Our breeder let us know that our mini goldendoodle puppy was born :) We get the first pick of 6 girls. Was wondering if anyone had any tips on how to pick your puppy? We have a family with small children (3 kids age 6 and under). Thanks for any info/advice!

Consider your family's dynamics and what you are looking for in a puppy. How active you all will be and what you activities you plan to include the pup in. IE hiking, biking, etc. And, obviously, with small children, you are not going to want a laid back couch potato!
Also, visit the litter as many times as possible and at different times of the day. The puppy you see snoozing through your first visit, who appears laid back and snuggly, could be a terror and super outgoing, the next visit. The more visits, the better chance of you getting to know the litter. Don't be afraid to ask questions of the Breeder, regarding personality and ask her/ him to help match your family with a puppy that suits your family
Also, it is not too soon to start teaching your little ones proper handling technique and actions around a small puppy.
I might also add: join the " Puppy Madness" Group. You will see in the first paragraph a link on " How to choose the Pick of the litter OR How to pick a Doodle Puppy". Good luck and keep us posted! Pics are a must! ;)

Check out the discussion two below yours.  I think teaching the children from word one how to hand the puppy is very important.  The puppy must also have a good amount of stress free down time away from the kids.   Choose a pup that is confident but does not struggle when you lay her on her back in your arms.

Agree with the other comments.  We have three and with each one we (1) knew the personality we needed to fit into our family and (2) just seemed to know when we found that puppy.  I realize the last one isn't that helpful.  However, with our first, I fell in love the first time I held him for #2, the same thing happened with my husband.  With #3, I was certain that a chocolate girl was the best fit.  In the end, we brought home a black boy and Beau is the sweetest doodle one could hope for.  My personal experience says to decide the personality that fits your family and then go with your heart.

Thank you everyone for your comments!
