We got a new car a couple of weeks ago and have been getting it prepared for a trip to Arizona next week. My husband fixed up the back of the car for the dogs. It's not quite as large as the last car, but they fit in there fine and he has it all so organized that I think it will do fine. It is a Toyota Venza and the first time I have ever taken the dogs for the test drive in a new car, but it is their car also.

Yeah, You would have to make sure it is spacious and comfy fothem too!
I am looking to purchase sometimes in the near future, as well.....
Well, so far, I recommend the Venza highly. I love the camera in the back of the car that shows how near you are to something when you are backing up. We get about 27 mpg, not an electric car, but pretty good.
Congrats on the new car, Lynda! My good friend bought a Venza and it rides great. I bought a new car in August and went with the Ford Fusion. We joke that we bought the car for Charlie (he gets motion sick in my husband's SUV)! This is the first vehicle he has actually ran to and waited for me to let him in (before he would run back to the house hoping I would let him stay home)! LOL Enjoy your new ride!
Very nice, hope you all enjoy it!
Congrats on your new car! I love the way you have it set up for the dogs. It looks like a lot of room to me. Do the dogs just lay back there or will you have them tethered to something too? Our next car, which will be soon, will be bought with Libby in mind! We have an Avalon now and it's just not conducive to a Doodle!
No we don't tether them as they walk around each other. The barrier keeps them from flying into the front of the car in case of a collision, and anything else just seems to be more confusing. The last car, a Ford Freestyle, was really bought for the dogs. We had over a 100,000 miles on it.
Nice!
That looks great, we have the same space for our girls and I like it all much better than when I drove a sedan. Could I ask where you got that particular divider? I have been looking but found none that came low enough to cover the hole between my bucket seats in the back. That one looks perfect.
My husband made it from a couple of crates and another divider. He's good at that kind of thing. We have them in all our vehicles since we have the two dogs. They just don't seem to stay put unless you have the area well defined. I love the mats because we make frequent trips to the beach and it is very easy to clean.
What a clever guy you have, I would have ran right out and bought that divider.
We have racks, too, but basically for bikes. My husband does not like anything else on the roof rack because it decreases the milage. Bikes? Well, they need someplace to ride. Usually it is just local, but we have taken them as far as Colorado for special bike trips. Usually, is we are going on a long trip, he use a rack on the back of the car but not so convenient with the dogs needing the lift up tailgate. It is always something.
