Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Daisy, my 1.5 year old Goldendoodle, has been losing the black color on  her nose. It seems really weird that the color seemed to be rubbing off of her  nose! Her once black nose is now turning brown:( I looked this up online  and I found that it is called "snow nose" and it happens when it gets  colder outside, and it may or may not reverse it's self once it gets warmer  again. We live in North Alabama, so it's not like it is really cold here or  anything. I have had several dogs in my lifetime and never experienced this.

Has any one heard of this or had any experience with it?

Here are some before and after pics of her nose.

Before (just black nose):

Color Rubbing off:

Yep, my dog has a snow nose  :)   I love it no matter what color. It's all good. Your dog is just fine

All shinny and black

Just curious - does it turn black again in the summer months?

Not as black as when he was a puppy. It changes a lot though.  So do the colors of his eyes. Sometimes he has really dark eyes and other times they seem to go gray or olive.

My labs did this also.

That's crazy! I have never seen this, and my sister has 2 huge labs! Thank you so much for the pics and the answer - I thought I was crazy:)

Your baby is gorgeous!! His coat looks amazing!

His coat is crazy crazy but thank you  :)

You are  not alone. Many people have asked this question here on DK.  I found something interesting while getting these links for you.  Many of these folks are from Texas and southern warm States.

Maybe we have it all wrong.  Maybe it has to do with sunlight and daylight savings time? Just my thoughts today.   Regardless, it is all good

Here are just a few past discussions.

That IS interesting! I think the name is a little misleading:)

yep, my briggs is getting it at 4.5 months. it's cute, i think :) as a side note, i had blue eyes up until i was 16 then they changed to green, and i also had a mole on my face that disappeared in high school, so crazy changes happen to us too!

This is probably different, but my black dog has a white spot on her nose. Her entire nose has not changed, just one white dot. I am watching it and of course worried, because that is just what I do!

Maybe just pigment?   One of my doodles got a big gash because she tried to get out of a crate once when she was a pup.  Her nose in that spot was always pink.

Good point! She always plays and rough houses with one of my other doodles. He probably got her in the nose. All of these Doodle noses are just too cute!!!!
