How much do you spend a month on dog food?

We are getting our Goldendoodle in March sometime and are trying to figure out our budget. I was wondering how much you spend a month and what brand you buy? Thanks so much!!

Thanks Karen, I went into the DK food list and read about it right after I sent the reply, should have looked first :)  I also did a bit more searching and saw on another blog where you commented that a 50lb healthy active dog should get around 1250 cal a day.  I haven't worried much about the cal count or exact feeding guides but watched the amount fed to make sure they were in good condition, not too heavy not too thin.  Well, Shaggy has gotten a bit "fluffy" and I'm having a hard time getting him back to a more stream lined form.  I feed Blue Buffalo grain free (wilderness line) -  410 cal per cup.  My boys get 1 cup in the A.M. and 1 cup in the P.M.  They get and a few treats during the day and NO toppings in their food.  I'm concerned about cutting back on his food.  Are there other things in dog foods that can cause weight gain? For excercise, I live on 10 acers and both boys run and run and run.

The short answer is that no particular ingredient in dog food is going to cause weight gain other than the caloric intake. But if you want to start a new FG discussion, we can explore what's going on with Shaggy. :)
