dirty little Polly

[Judy, Meg & Polly Wolly Doodle]

No internet right not so trying this from my phone. Polly has a totally different coat than Meg's and we knew she would. When Meg plays outside the dirt just does not stick and her groomer always comments on how well she keeps. Polly is the texture of a cotton ball right now and she looks like a cottton ball rolled in dirt. I give her a quick brushing but it does not get it all. I am amazed at how much dirt I vacuum and sweep up. I love the girls to snuggle on the couch with me but need to find a way to keep more of this dirt off of Polly...any ideas for me?

So very worth it. I know I already have them bathed pretty frequently and still she looks like pigpen in the Charlie Brown cartoon

Barb from the Grooming group recommends a high speed blower for removing a lot of between-bath dirt. You might search through that group for discussions about them. Although right now Polly might be a little light weight for one...wouldn't want to blow her across the room! LOL  Maybe a couch cover?

Chocolate doodles hide their dirt!  But of course that does not stop the dirt from getting on the furniture/bedding/floor.  When I push around the swifter sweeper on our wood floors, even just after they have been washed- the amount of dirt is startling!

Judy, I know exactly what you mean.  Preston's fur is like Velcro with all the leaves and dirt sticking to him.  I have to brush him almost every time he comes in the house.  This what he looked like last Wed.  A bath was the last thing I needed to do with all the Thanksgiving prep.  He went right into the shower. (I don't know why the pic is side ways.)

I keep saying I am making a body suit for Molly.  She comes in so dirty and even when I had them penned on the deck today to keep out of the mud she managed to mop up the deck and was a muddy mess.  Si stays cleaner.  I use a bucket at the back door for feet-and legs in Molly's case.  I also use the HV dryer it is amazing what it blows out of them the dander and the dirt and mine wind up with baths or rinses a couple times a week right now with the muck. I have been shaving the bellies shorter and really paying attention to trimming feet and the hair between.

If you find an answer I would love it too.

Oh Judy - if you find the answer, please share! Casey's nickname is also "pigpen." Dirt seems to just jump on him! Everyone tells me that Cody is probably just as dirty, but doesn't show up on a black dog. Not so - in the shower, Casey has at least twice as much dirt on him. His front paws and beard are ALWAYS dirty.

We have the girls bathed, paws trimmed underneath, nether regions trimmed, ears cared for and nails trimmed every two weeks.  My groomer always tells me Meg does not need it, she is always amazed at the dirt on Polly. 

 

As it happens I took Meg to the nursing home yesterday and while we were gone my husband took Polly out to the woods to spend some time, on the way back she found the neighbors pond and leaped in before he could stop her so when he got her home he coaxed her into the shower and used the handheld to rinse her down, she really did look much better so that will probably be what we start leaning towards, no soap, just a rinse down and towel dry.
