Throwing up early morning

I know I saw this awhile back but can't find it now. Twice in the last two weeks Bogey has woken us gagging. I rush him outside but we haven't made it. He just throws up some white foamy stuff, not too much. Afterwards he eats his breakfast and seems fine. Our trainer had told me when he was really young that puppies do this because they are growing fast and get over hungry during the night but someone here said that wasn't right. He's 9 months now and done growing. Anyone know what's going on?

Both of my dogs do this occasionally.....it helps if you can give them a biscuit before they go to bed.  With my boys it's because their stomachs are empty and what they are spitting up is  bile.  We've actually trained our little guy to go into the bathroom where there's a tile floor when he's going to spit up.....the big guy hasn't figured this out yet.

Thanks Jane, funny thing is I take him out just before bed and he sits by the treat jar (usually gets a treat when he comes in) but at night I don't give him one because I don't want him to need to out during the night. Wrong again!

I'd give it a try and see if it helps.  My guys still do spit up once in a while but giving them that biscuit right before bed does seem to help.

My 6 month Sadie has done this twice both times it was after she had eaten some grass , I thought it had somthing to do with the grass but maybe not

mine has done this kind of spit up before too.  it yielded grass and one time and a goat chew piece that he had swallowed whole another time. eeks. hopefully, the biscuit thing works for you.

Had the same problem and started giving a very very small handful of kibble just after the last potty break of the night and the problem stopped.

This happened to us too during months 4-5 when he was growing really quickly.  Same sounding stuff coming up as you're experiencing which we're pretty sure was just bile.  We just portioned out some of his food to give him around 8pm during brushing time.  It helped to keep his belly full overnight and it didn't happen again after starting the snack time.

This  happened on rare occasion when our 18 month old was younger.  We started to give a bedtime snack of some kibble or a biscuit and it stopped, but lately we have not had to do that.
