I am soooooo happy and relieved.  I finally decided it was time to trim Millie.  She's nearly 9 months old and hasn't had any type of trim other than a sanitary and around her eyes and face a bit.  I stewed about it for hours before deciding it was time.  I LOVE long fur, so I was afraid my clippers would take off too much.  But, I found it to be perfect (used the 1 1/4" comb)!!  It took me about 2 hours, and I still am not 100% done, but very close.  She did very well.  Didn't like being shaved under her ears, but she tolerated it.  So proud of her.  Here are some before and after pics.  My husband said there isn't much of a difference to see, but that's exactly what I wanted.  :)

Yes, 100!  I can tend to be a bit picky, so I'm especially happy for this!  ;)

Great job, and isn't it fun to do your own grooming?  We have been grooming for many years and many dogs (started with our standard poodle) and really enjoy it.  It is great for forming a good bond also.  Since my husband and I are both retired, we can take as much time as we like doing a groom and it sometimes takes several days (a little bit at a time).  Groucho Too is better than either of us for standing for a long, long time.  We usually do the face trim, clean the ears, and clip the feet first, then a precut and wash and blow dry, and finally the final cut on clean hair.  We use clippers on the face and feet and scissors cut the rest of him.  You are off to a great start.  Enjoy.

Yes, to all.  I'm sooo happy I was able to do it all myself.  I was worried she would be afraid of the clippers, and I'd end up doing terrible.  Well, I KNOW it's not perfect.  Her legs probably especially.  I used the clippers on them when I was going to scissor cut them because I like the big teddy bear leg look.  Well, the clippers were barely taking anything off, so I scissored here and there (didn't want to drops blade size).

I gave her a bath the day before.  So while she was "clean", she wasn't fresh out of the bath like she probably should have been.  I don't have a dryer for her, so thought I'd go this route instead.

Wow! You did a perfect job!  I am extremely impressed.

Wow, thank you kindly!!  It's such a huge load off my shoulders 1) with it being done, and   2) that I know I can do it myself now - yay!  I just hope her coat doesn't change too much so I can continue to do it. :)

Millie looks so cute. You did a great job..

I am very impressed! I'm hoping to do Ragley's grooming myself so you are wonderful inspiration!
