I am posting this picture of Boris so you can understand how sad I am now. I am very happy that he is home and he is wagging his tail lots though he is disorientated and sleepy. Riley has been very gentle with him and is just lying near him. For now I am beside him as his crate is too small and the super size one hasn't arrived yet. He is very happy to be home and enjoyed his food. He has pain killers and Rimadyl to take and the 15 staples in each shoulder come out in ten days time.  The vet surgeon told me there were two large lesions one on each shoulder that he removed and that the left joint showed evidence of mild synovitis (inflammation within the joint) The sad part of all this is that Boris is now likely (vets words) to develop osteoarthritis in both shoulders and slowing down the progression of this is what we will now have to manage carefully. He said that free running is not advised so no chasing a ball or running free in the fields with Riley. The rehab will be slow. He is on crate rest for six weeks followed be carefully managed rehabilitation which will probably include hydrotherapy. I sent this photo to the breeder along with the notes from the vet and asked her to do the right thing and not bring any more puppies into the world that could possibly have to go through this again. To say that I am sad is an understatement but I am so happy to have him home where he is happily asleep on his memory foam bed in my bedroom. I will sleep beside him for tonight as his crate is too small and an extra super size one that I ordered should arrive tomorrow.

I have posted on FB as I want the world to know about this and am hoping that the breeder will get the message loud and clear.  DK friends have and continue to be a tremendous support and help to me as I help Boris with his recovery and get my own head around all of this.

He looks very handsome in his red sweater and it probably gives him some comfort (like a thunder shirt).  Heal quickly cute boy!

Good idea using the jumper-those cones are the worst for everyone! Boris looks like he is wearing fluffy slippers. It still amazes me how tiny theses doodles are under all that hair.

What a sweet boy. :)

Boris, I just want to hug you and give you a big ole smooch. While you are not lucky to have this happen to you, you are lucky to have landed with a wonderful family who will take the very best care of you.

He is adorable in his jumper!  But he's probably wondering what happened to his leg warmers.

I was thinking of getting knee high socks and cutting out the feet:) If it gets really cold I might but we keep the house pretty warm and he's not going anywhere except potty breaks for the next six weeks.

Nicky, I am so glad he is home. He looks adorable and I am hoping he will soon feel as wonderful as he looks. Hugs

Boris you look so nice in your sweater and what a good Mommy you have to keep you warm and cozy.  Your sad little face makes me cry, but I know you are going to get better and stronger real soon!  Hugs, love and prayers from Libby and her Mommy!

Awww poor baby !!!  I hope he gets better soon !!

Makes my day to know that he is home safe and sound and not having to stay at the vet's and recover...WOOHOO!

I'm so glad he is home and wagging his tail!  He looks perfectly adorable in his sweater and Uggs!  LOL!  Being with you and Riley is all Boris needs - just take it day by day and the future will work itself out.  I know you feel terrible about Boris not being able to run free with Riley, but everyone will adjust.  Just enjoy the fact that the surgery is over and you can sleep next to Boris to love on him!  I hope the breeder does the right thing, as well.  Love and licks from Libby Louise, too!
