Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
So I am looking at pet insurance for my puppy Max. I went and got quotes from the different insurance companies, and I looked at the ratings on petinsurancereview.com and I have it narrowed down to two that have the best ratings. Petplan and Truepanion are the two that I'm looking at. Does anyone here have any thoughts on these two companies and how good they are? Petplan is a little cheaper, but it has a limit on what they cover. (8000$) and I have no idea what the cost of medical stuff can be for a dog since it's been ten years since I had a dog. I would really appreciate any thoughts or input on this, and I am sorry if this is a repeated thread.

Hi Julie,
I explored several plans and I decided to purchase Trupanion; I took out additional coverage to ensure things such as hip dysplasia etc, are covered, and therapies such as hydrotherapy are also covered. My doodle, Paz, is a therapy dog, so Pet Partners has an arrangement with Trupanion in which Pet Partner therapy dogs, are eligible for a discount. Paz is turning 4, and fortunately I have not had to use his health insurance, however, it is reassuring to know it is available if I need it at any point in the future. I highly recommend getting health insurance for Max as it will give you peace of mind if the unexpected occurs. I have friends whose vet bills have exceeded $10,000, so pet insurance is almost a must.
Thank you Charlotte, looking at the trupanion plan it says that it covers hip dysplasia and things like that within the basic plan, is that not so? I don't think I would do the extra for hydrotherapy and what not just because that isn't available where I live. The only thing I don't like about the petplan one is the limit. I guess I am wondering how likely it would be to go over the limit?
I like trupanion, and certainly, give them a call with any questions you may haave.
Alright thanks for your help. :)
