Hello fellow DK'rs,
My family is going on vacation in June to the Atlantis water park in the Bahamas. My husband and I will be taking our 15 year old son and 14 year old daughter. We have 3 full days to spend there. (We are traveling from DC so this will be fun after all the culture and museums.) I have been researching places to stay on the Atlantis property and what to do while we are there. I am not sure which tower to stay in - so many to chose from. It might be nice to have a kitchenette but not necessary. Any recommendations? Any other suggestions about where to eat and what to do would be helpful.
Thanks, Diane

Haven't been...so can't offer any ideas or suggestions...hope you have a wonderful, fun and safe trip with your family...Enjoy!
Thanks! My kids had heard about Atlantis and then my husband talked to someone he works with who went and said it was a family favorite. Since we had already planned a trip to DC we decided to add a few days onto the end and extend the fun. We've been to the Schlitterbahn park in Texas so we're excited to see Atlantis.
I have had good luck with the reviews on tripadvisor.com you can type in each tower in the search box and will find discussions on everything including which room is the best. I was at that hotel years and years ago on a day trip and I remember that it was very expensive to purchase food and drinks on the resort. I remember paying and outlandish amount for a small glass of soda (over $5). So if you are on a budget I would source out a store off property to pick up a six pack of soda or beer etc.
Thanks for the info. I have been reading tripadvisor but thought I'd ask here too. I've also heard about the price of food and drinks and your idea to pick up things at a store - especially bottled water - is a great idea.
We went there 2 years ago. we have a Starwood timeshare that we used there, and it was great. BUT if u go, u must have a meal plan. the food is so very expensive and we found the middle meal plan to be really worth it. Food was great. It is a fun place, loads of things for the kids to see and do..Our accom. were called Harbor Side Just call . We had a 2 bedroom 2 bath and it was great, much better then just a hotel room. and it is right on property, very easy access to everything it was really nice. I believe u can rent them too, it may even be cheaper then staying in one of the towers. Hope this helps..we loved it there and the food was great, and we were oh so glad that we had a meal plan. Even the drinks, soft drinks were included, and the snacks too..Very good deal for everyone.
My husband was looking at the Harborside rooms. They all have kitchens and washer/dryers. Perfect set up for a family since there is more than one room. We will definitely look into the meal plans. Thanks!
I've been 4 times, We like the Royal tower on the Club level, this seems expensive but, it includes breakfast, a tea at noon, a cocktail hour with hourderves and a dessert bar in the evening. It also includes soft drinks all day. The most expensive thing on the property is food and drink so we found that it evens out .
I'll look into that. Thanks for the advice. Sounds like you enjoy going there.
