Very interesting article about not only the calories, but also the bacteria they breed. Not good.

That was interesting. I don't buy bully sticks anymore since the dogs tended to get diarrhea from them. But I do prefer small dry treats that can be eaten all in one sitting. Much more sanitary.
I actually thought the calorie count was higher.....thanks for sharing.......I let a Jack chew raw Hyde when I am holding on to it and it is right in front of me....I pay a fortune for it and it is made and processed in the USA.....he can't have it though unless I am right there....and it s maybe one or twice a year because it's expensive.

We do bulky sticks but recently with my immune system have decided to not buy more.......I also switched off raw....:(
My poor Jack has been so over fed and treated he is a chunky monkey....we have had some stress in our family and my mom had Jack and when she is stressed she feeds and treats them.....when I saw Jack I couldn't believe how chunky he got..

We are working on doing walks instead of treating it's better for everyone.....
One stick per day??? It takes Enzo a good week to finish one! Like everything else, treats in limited quantities.

Quincy takes quite awhile-  at least 3-4 or more days with a 12 inch one- to get it down small enough that I throw it away so it is not a choking hazard.

Interesting information!  I give my doodles bully sticks maybe 2- 3 times year as a extra special treat.  I store them in a zip lock bag in the freezer.  My doodles take about 1/2 hour to eat them.. they do not last very long with my chewers :)

I don't buy them because I cannot stand the smell of them. They smell like urin, hmmm????

I posted the article on my facebook page.
