Doodles in Los Angeles???

Hi Doodle friends! My husband and I are SOOOO excited to be adopting a doodle. We're still waiting on our breeder, it's probably going to be another few months. In the mean time, we're doing a ton of research. Reading books on training and raising puppies and all that good stuff. I wanted to know if anyone could recommend literature (blogs, books, whatever) particularly pertaining to golden doodles? AND, I would like to know if there are any goldendoodle groups out here in Los Angeles? We would LOVE to crash one your get togethers so that we can see how doodles play and interact with each other. Thanks in advance for any guidance and advice!

You don't need a book specializing in Goldendoodles for raising a puppy, you need a how to raise a puppy book or dog idea book.  I know some will chime in here with current favs.   For grooming tips join the grooming group:

Hi!

I just got a doodle puppy myself (2 weeks ago!) and I'm in the LA area, actually I'm in pasadena.  As for books, what REALLY helped me prepare myself for the dog was reading Diana Klumb's book and Edie Mackenzie's book on goldendoodles.  Ive owned dogs before but It's been a few years and I needed a refresher and I wanted to do it "right" this time around.  Both were really helpful to me and I dont think I would have been nearly as prepared if it werent for the book.

Congratulations on your new anticipated arrival! We have one that just came home last Saturday and we are in puppy bliss - she has been SO good! Although we live in Scottsdale, we have a son in LA and come out to visit as often as we can. We'll be there in April, in fact, and have already posted on care.com for qualified dog sitters to stay with Coby when we go to a Dodgers game one night. So if anyone has good sites/dog sitters and/or dog friendly places to stay in and around the area that you'd like to share as you're all familiar with the area, please do! 

In the meantime, since you're closer than we are to Santa Maria, you may want to check out having the advantage of driving to Aly Rodges for her in home dog training classes, *if* that's a route you'd consider. We're actually flying out with Coby to enroll her.  Long story - we went through this not even 4 years ago with training a new ALD at the time and circumstances now didn't afford us the time/energy we had then so…we were impressed with what Aly has to offer. We have a little delay we're encountering now…but hopefully it will be just that before she's on board with the rest of the Power Pack.

Hi, sorry - I'm not on here too frequently so just seeing the reply. We brought Coby to Aly Rodges outside of San Luis Obispo, an hours flight from us in AZ, on Feb. 15th; I'm going to pick her up next Sat. after a months training (just posted one of her training videos demonstrating Aly's techniques).  I know that's a bit north of the Santa Maria area, not being from the area I'm not certain how long of a drive that is though.
