Maple, now 14 weeks, has regurgitated a handful of times, twice today. Just a little right after eating. She's on Fromm surf and turf. A couple weeks ago she did vomit after visiting the beach. This is totally different-undigested food, that she gobbles up before I can get to it. Otherwise, no other issues. I'll bring it up at the vet's next time, but should I be concerned? I did a search here, but most discussions were associated with MegaE. What are other causes?

I don't want to worry you, but if she is regurgitating her food on a regular basis, there is nothing good that can be causing that. It could be MegaE, or it could be a reflux issue. And switching to another brand or formula of food won't help, because the food isn't getting into her system so it can't be causing a reaction. I would talk to the vet sooner rather than later. For a puppy this young, not getting enough calories/nutrients is serious. There may be a medication that the vet can give you to help. Just whatever you do, don't buy Rx food. No change of kibble is going to have any effect, and if the vet wants you to try canned food, you can buy the canned Fromm, much much better quality and cheaper than Rx garbage.

Also, make sure she's not engaging in physical activity before or after eating, that can cause regurgitation.

Thanks Karen. I will speak to her vet. Thankfully she's holistic, so Rx shouldn't be an issue. I do have insurance. However, the activity might be a factor. I'll keep a record.

I am so glad you have insurance! I hope it's just acid reflux or something easily remedied!

Monty used to throw up a lot when he was this little. Then I realized that I can't feed him right after we come back from a walk. So if we went for a walk or had a play session, I let him calm down for over 30 minutes before giving him his breakfast.  Hopefully, that's the same issue you are having and nothing more serious.

This happened to Hudson just this past week. He threw up twice in one night, undigested food a few hours after eating. Then again the next morning after playing at the snowy dog beach. Then again the next day after puppy class. Undigested food hours after eating. I thought he might be eating too quickly (even though I hand feed him) or perhaps too much activity after eating. No behaviour modifications helped. Neither did a diet of rice, boiled chicken, and pumpkin. I was confused because it didn't happen every time he ate, and his stools were fine. Then he stopped drinking water, which is when I started to worry and called the vet. Coincidentally, he also started sneezing and had a runny nose.

I was worried about MegaE or a possible blockage or maybe a virus. The vet said that since his vomiting was hours after eating rather than minutes, it likely wasn't MegaE. And since I watch him 24/7 or else he's in his crate, it likely wasn't a blockage. Also, he didn't detect anything when palpating Hudson's abdomen.

The vet said it was likely just stomach irritation and said to give him 10mg of Pepsid AC twice a day for 5 days and continue with the chicken rice pumpkin diet.

It worked like a charm. No further incidents after starting the Pepsid. And a few days later he was as good as new and back to his normal food and his normal gallons of water drinking routine. He did lose 2.5 pounds during the few days he was ill, but he's put it back on now.

I think a trip to the vet is a good idea, but it sounds like Hudson. Good luck!!!
