Another Lowes trip was in order today. We put Enzo in a cart, thinking they would be less likely to ask us to leave. Have to admit...at 47 lbs, she looks silly, but loves riding in the cart. We were met by " Lauren" who adores Enzo and always has a treat ready for her.

As Enzo was entertaining , the Mgr. Walked up, and I thought: " here it comes". Instead he laughed at her in the cart and he too, gave her a hug. I figured what the hell and came right out and asked about any new policies regarding dogs in the store. He sort of rolled his eyes and said in Ca. they have told their employees to go on a dog by dog basis. If a dog is barking a lot, if a dog is showing ANY kind of aggression , they are to be TOLD ( not asked) to leave. They were also told to watch " high risk " dogs. His words, not mine. I"m guessing this meant Pits, Rotties, etc. seems really asinine to me. He did say that MANY customers shop with their dogs and Lowes felt that these people would shop their competitor (Home Depot), if they could no longer bring in their dogs.
Makes no sense to me....but we were happy to hear Enz was still welcome.

Yay!!

Lowes and Home Depot has helped us socialize Sydney and Hershey. We let them walk next to the cart on their leads.  Everybody in the store gets a kick out of seeing them and the parents of young children love it when you tell them it is okay for their children to pet the dogs.  Everybody wins!

I agree Carolyn!  Win-win situation, for sure!

sweet!  I didn’t know lowes allows dogs... now Im a lot more likely to go there!

Interesting.....as far as I know dogs are still allowed in our Lowe's.  That's where I did a lot of Murphy's distraction training - it was perfect for that.

Jane:  there was an incident in one of the Ca. Lowes, a few months back, where a child was literally mauled by an Akita, in the store. Owner ran, but was known in the store, so they caught up to him at home.  It turns out, the dog already had a bite history.  Also, in fairness, the toddler was NOT being watched....so it was an accident just waiting to happen.

We were sure, and I'm still not convinced it won't happen, that Lowe's would ban all dogs, other than Service dogs.

Our Lowes and Home Depot have signs banning dogs!  :-}

Same here Nancy!   Sad:(

Oh...how very sad and disappointing. In San Diego County, the only signs they have are ones that welcome Service Dogs. Nothing, either way on pets.

The photo is no longer available!

Hmmmm...have no idea! but here:
