Gibbs had a chocolate mom and a cream daddy. We are trying to figure out what color he might end up being, when he is fully matured. He has a really dark hind leg, almost black its so dark. The tips of his hair are chocolate with almost cream underneath and new roots that are milk chocolate. Did your Doodle evole into a different color or has he/she pretty much been the same since being a puppy. It's been interesting watching the new hair growth come in completely different colors. We should have named him Neopolitian. Just curious if anyone else has experienced all of the different colors. Gibbs is getting a hair cut on Wednesday, and I think when he comes home he will look like a competley different puppy. We love our Gibbers!

Charlie was a very dark chocolate when he was a puppy. He has lightened up over the years (he is now almost 8 years old). As a puppy he had some dark black hairs and some white/silver hairs mixed in his coat. He is now a very light "cafe au lait" color. Under his chin is totally blonde. He has beautiful highlights in his now light milk chocolate coat. It hs been interesting watching the change. Your Gibbs is very cute. You will have fun watching how he grows and changes!

My labradoodle's mom was chocolate and her dad white , I have pic's of them on my page my doodle Miss Beasley is black and I'm seeing some cooper around her nose in the last month ..she is just about 7 months old , your Gibbers is cute as can be and so is Charlie ....

My 3 dogs are related... the cream and the parchment are litter mates.  My black male is the son of my cream girl.  It depends on the dominant gene in the breeding pair!

My dog Meadow was a chocolate with a slightly grey face, but by the time she was 8 months she as much lighter and is now a total parchment.  Of my 3 ALD's... Meadow my parchment s the one people most fall in love with.  She's a bit unusual.

Where did your dog come from?

I also have a black dog the breeder expected may end up grey... his face is lightening.. and he is almost 3.  SO I think... he will be mostly black.

And then there is my cream... started cream... will end cream... except she is my digger.

Nancy - I got Gibbs from Manor Lake Labradoodle.
Nancy, I went to your page and looked at your doodles, they are all beautiful! I love the Labradoodle taxi sign, too funny.

I have 3 Westie's and Gibbs. He is my first Labradoodle, and I totally love everything about him and the breed. Love the low to non-shedding!! I saw that you are a golfer, so am I. How long have you played golf? I've been playing for about 27 years. Love the game.

Most doodles change colors in some fashion only if it is fading.  Some have dramatic changes. I think the chocolates have the most change.

Yes! My guy started out as a blonde -- much like a golden retriever.  As his coat changed, he went to white. His breeder described him as cream and apricot -- and that's how he ended up.  Creamy white with apricot ears and highlights LOL

My doodle started out dark chocolate and around one year looked like she was getting grey hairs patches....now at 18 months...she'e a milky chocolate.
