My little Yarrow gleefully jumped into the car this morning and was all happy at the vet's office.  She obviously holds no grudges for the vaccinations she received there.  I'm waiting to hear any time now that she's awake in recovery. 

Here's a picture of her napping blissfully last night between her bed and her comfy mat, surrounded by toys.  Speedy recovery baby.

I don't know how she did it!  I heard a noise and when I looked, the front half of her was already over the gate and her back legs were off the ground but she was stuck 3/4 of the way over.  She is literally climbing the walls.  As I type this, she is standing with her paws on the thermostat!  I had better go stuff her kong with cheese or something.

My Cavalier was airborn the day after her spay, drove me nuts! In the blink of an eye she leaped across the living room - after getting a drink of water in the kitchen - and literally flew through the air, over the coffee table and onto the couch. I nearly fainted. She tore two stitches and something inside, had to take her back to the vet and demanded sedation for her (they didn't have any for me :)  ). I hated seeing her groggy and yet it beat having her rip out her innerds.   We still refer to her as The Flying Cavalier and I can tell you that I am not looking forward to the neutering of my little guy, he loves jumping and I'm going to have to nail him to the floor.

Yikes!  Today is day 5.  I've been checking Yarrow's incision almost hourly for signs of any damage inside or out, and so far so good - miraculously!  No swelling, no discoloration, no heat, so I figure we're lucky.  I keep her in the room with me, wherever I am - with the cone off because she seems less 'loco' with it off and she can use her paws to hang on to chew toys to keep busy. However, she's discovered that she likes to run and slide like a child in socks on a smooth floor.  OY!  

Going outside, on leash, to take care of business isn't too bad so long as we're in the yard.  I take her for short walks too so she can see and smell the daily news - which I've been doing 3 or 4 times a day.  I have to be armed with high value treats to get her to keep bringing her attention back to me and remembering, albeit for short stints, to walk beside me on a loose leash.  Apart from those calm moments, the rest of the outing is rodeo time. Yarrow's so strong now that I have to keep the leash tied around my waist to be sure she doesn't get away from me.  I keep the walks short because lots of people around here walk their dogs off-leash and I would lose my mind if another dog ran towards us.  I'd have to wrap myself around her like my life depended on it.  I can't wait until everything is back to normal.  We usually do our loose-leash walking after excess puppy energy has been spent.

Well, they say a picture is worth a thousand words, so I figure the picture is sometimes best. 

Your story brought me a giggle and a grin, except for the part about the torn stitches.  I can imagine that you and I have experienced very similar post-spay, heart-stopping moments.

Funny you should mention sedation.  I did send my vet the message about the gate climbing but had no response.  Maybe she went away for the weekend.  I did cross my mind to open a bottle of wine to sedate myself, but that would be irresponsible as my partner is still away - but I considered it!

At my request, my vet sent me home with 3 days worth of pain meds for her but I only used one of them because she showed no signs of discomfort after the first 36 hours.  In hindsight I should've asked for just-in-case sedation meds.

It's great that Yarrow loves laying on her back.  I get to check her belly often.

OOps.  I misunderstood.  Miss Beasley goes in Feb. 29, right?  Well, I hope she'll be as quiet as a lamb post surgery but I'd say brace yourself and buy a big beefy bone and maybe ask your vet about sedatives.

Oh my goodness, little Yarrow is one determined (and athletic) girl :) So glad no damage was done but your heart must have stopped! That's one for the record books :) I have to say that from your pictures and story, I'm head over heels in love with Sadhu.  Wishing you a less exciting day today :)
