Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

My girlfriend and I both work long hours from 7am to about 4:30pm when we get off, so for a few months now we have been sending Archie to doggie daycare.  We live in a major city and most young professionals like ourselves take their dogs to daycare.  They have the best of time and its so energetic and social for them.

I just wanted to see if anyone else takes their doodles there either on a daily basis or every here and there? I wanted to see what everyone thought about it and if they have any stories.

Also, could Archie potentially get over energized? He loves to exercise and play and rather then just leave him home bored out of his mind we take him 3 or 4 times a week.  He loves us for it, but also is wiped out when we get home!  The exercising and socialization during the day has made him such a better puppy though.

Its pretty unreal and a big facility.  It has a veterinary hospital connected to it as well.  Its great. Yeah, its much more worth your money to go to daycare than a walker. IMO

Hanna goes to daycare about once a week, usually when we know we have a longer day at work, or have something planned that evening, just to get her tired out and keep her brain occupied !  It is also the same place that she gets groomed, so that works good too.  I think its great you take Archie to daycare--very good for socialization and to get them tired out--Im a huge believer that "a tired dog is a well-behaved dog" !  : )

Thank you!  Yes, no doubt about it.  A tired dog is much more well-behaved.  He also gets informal training because the workers there are fantastic with him.

These day care facilitles sound really nice!  I have had no experience with day care, although we went to one once to check it out and I was very disappointed and would not consider it for Libby.  It was not very clean, did not seem very organized and the people were disinterested in getting our business.

Yeah, I had to take a few tours of a few different facilities to figure out which one we wanted Archie to attend.

Rue gets to be played with all day everyday and not in a crate when I'm at work, we still take her to doggy daycare every Wednesday and Saturday. She loves it and has her favorite dogs to play with. She loves all the staff and the dogs that play there. She always comes home completely exhausted. Sometimes, too exhausted to eat dinner!

I love our daycare, they even called to check on her last week after she got spayed! I've never had a bad experience with the dogs that play in the daycare.

Thats great! Sounds the same as our daycare and same as Archie and his tired/not eating haha its so great for the dogs

Although, my co-workers and my parents think we are insane for taking our DOG to daycare. She's my spoiled rotten baby. Haha.

HAHA me too! Me and my girlfriend are 25 and 22 respectively and all our friends and co-workers are like what!? You guys are such city living yuppies! LOL.  He is spoiled rotten, but we are able to afford it, so why not? I'd rather him not be bored at home and then annoying at night when ALL he wants to do is play and not sleep.  Idk how old you are, but as a young professional we need our sleep and "me" time LOL.

HA. I am 25 and the bf is 26. I just work such long hours and I want her to be social with all people and dogs and not stuck at home with just one person. She gets so bored at night and just annoys me so much looking for things to do. SOOOO Problem solved with daycare, she gets her energy out and will cuddle with me on the couch at night! Puppy cuddles are the best!

HAHA we are both in the same boat.  That is too funny. Yup, we work from 7-5, so it is important to have him out and about during the day. I work close by so when he is home alone i walk home at lunch time to take him out, but he could probably hold it the whole day now at 1yr old.  He has always been good with that and he just sleeps when were gone cuz he doesn't like when we leave, so he just sleeps. LOL

Quincy goes to PetSmart day care near my workplace on Tuesday and Thursday, this way he has a nice break from being alone while we are at work.  It knocks him out and he sleeps the whole next day!  He does get rest times there, too though.

Most visits we get a $3 coupon off for the next visit (just have to do a quick survey)  so it's reasonable, to boot.  The staff is great-mostly young college students that they treat him very well.

The only thing is the doggy smell he comes home with!  sometimes I have them do an "exit bath" so he is not  stinky!
