Doodles and Thunderstorms

How do your Doodles handle Thunderstorms ? Bosco is terrified of them.

Living on So Ca. We rarely have any thunderstorms. Previous to this move, we lived in Texas, where, it seems, they are an almost, every day occurrence. We had 2 Goldens at the time. One was terrified and could sense them coming an hr in advance. We used Rescue Remedy for her. The other Golden, wasn't fazed in the least.

This was recommended to me by our then Vet. Great thing is, you can NOT overdose. Many friends of ours use this in showing of their cats. It just calms the animals down, without actually drugging the animal.

They also make this for humans and many people use it during stressful situations, for children anxious about tests, flying and so on.  Has been used for years in holistic communities.

Do NOT use the Human version of Rescue Remedy. Please, use the one for Pets Only. You can purchase both at a local holistic Drug Store or online

I don't know yet because it's too cold for thunderstorms, just have to say I love the colouring of your doodle Karen.

Thanks,,,,,,he is an odd little guy but I love him so much, He is only the second doodle I have ever seen.

I will say, it worked great with our Golden. But my daughter had a mastiff , that it had no effect on, no matter how much was given to her.
I would recommend NOT diluting it in water...but giving it straight into the mouth or on a treat. It can also be absorbed into the skin. Our friends massage it onto the ears of the cats.( onto, not into!).

Ragley takes them well, but our lab does not. He, too, can sense them coming and always sticks close. We just make sure to keep him near us and stay calm around him.

I've also heard good and bad things about the Thundershirts. I have one friend, who swears that her JackRussell couldn't live without it...others say it doesn't work at all.
