Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
I haven't been on this site for awhile so I thought I would give it a try. We have two doodles. We have Bailey who is 5 years old and is a goldendoodle and we have Logan who is 3 and he is a Labradoodle. Bailey has allergy issues with a lot of things but mainly it is with carbs. He became very yeasty many ear infections darkened groin and little sores on his back. The vets really couldn't help, their solutions were antibiotics and steroids. This we will never do since it starts you in the endless cycle of yeast growth which is what we found to be the real problem.
He is free of yeast today and has been for 2 years now. We have a holistic vet and we treat and care for our dogs holistically. We follow parts of the regiment that applies to our dogs.
Send me line either here or to my email at gregmpyles@msn.com and I will be happy to help you.

Greg, all commercial foods are not created equal. A well-balanced homemade diet can indeed work very well for many dogs with health issues, but so can a good grain-free commercial diet with a low Omega 6:3 ratio. Any dogs with allergies should be in the care of a veterinary dermatology specialist. Depending on the type of allergies, there are treatments that do not involve steroids or other Rx drugs, and are actually homeopathic in nature. My guy is on one of them, desensitization, also called immunotherapy. But general practice vets are not educated in this and cannot implement it.
Have you heard of Dr. Pitcairn? We bought his book a couple years ago and his book is our guide. We were able to find a good holistic vet in our area that works with us. We have emailed our vet a number of times to get his approval on things, he welcomes our input in our dogs care. Unlike the many OSU graduated vet around us, nice people but no help. Here is Dr. Pitcairn,s site if your interested. w

Well I suppose I might know nothing about birthing babies, although I have one to my name. I have never had issues with my Monty. I had heard that giving them yogurt on a regular basis will take care of those issues. I have no idea if its hokum or not, but I thought that science backed that idea.
Anyway, I give Monty a bit of yogurt on a routine basis. He has never had issues. I have no idea if he is lucky or if the regular yogurt helps..
The allergy shampoo I use for JD is also made by Douxo. Douxo Calm. I highly recommend it.
