My Meg is a dog that does not need grooming but loves to be brushed all the same and never been a problem.  Polly is much different, way fluffy coat and prone to mats if we are not diligent about brushing her.  Brushing has been a real issue since my age and beat up body is not all that cracked about getting on the floor, plus I need my husband to hold on to her while I brush.  Last week I gave in and put her on the dining room table ( I know, but we never, ever eat in there and I know how to sanitize it anyway).  Meg is used to jumping right up when she goes to the groomer to get nails clipped and potty parts trimmed up, Polly can't make that reach yet.  So we got a step stool to teach her how to climb up and the table worked very well but it is too slick and still need hubby.  Yesterday we received a dog grooming table we ordered from http://www.amazon.com/Master-Equipment-BoneShaped-Folding-Grooming/... and wow, I am in love with it.  This morning Polly walked right up from the step stool and stayed in position and gave me kisses while I groomed her, (hubby still in bed, we accomplished this on our own) and when she got down Meg came over for her turn.

Grooming table = Priceless, this is so much easier than before.

What an encouraging story! Congratulations to you and Polly. BTW if the table is slippery, I cover mine with a yoga mat! It works like a charm and easy clean up. Can't wait to see pics!

Yes, it's so much easier on your back with a grooming table, isn't it?  We do take our two Golden doodles, Abby and Rufus to be groomed every six weeks, but in between they need to have their coats brushed out every week.  Before we got the table, I would kneel down to comb and rake them, but having sciatica, after about 15 minutes I could no longer stay in that position.  We saw a grooming table on the Costco website which was a good price, ordered it and it was delivered the following week.  I now wish that we'd ordered one a few years earlier!!  We've had it about two years now and it's a real godsend-- no more aching back for me.

Wow!  Success for you and Polly.  My husband and I groom Ned as a team.  Ned hates to be groomed.  He cooperates fully for the groomer, but not us.

Wonderful! Got to have the right tools for the job, glad it turned out great

We got the 30 inch one I believe.  My Meg is 73 pounds and we think Polly will get there.  Today we are working on making shorter leashes to hold them in place.  Meg jumps up and sits until we tell her down, easy for her, she doesn't need grooming but wants her turn for the attention.  Polly doesn't mind getting up there or being groomed, she just likes to keep turning around to see what you are doing back there and had one miss step so we want to hold her in position better.  I love the tub you are using, need to think how I could make that work here.  Thanks for sharing that information.
