We attended a Rod Run this morning, and afterwards there is a huge street faire....and viewing of 100's and 100s of cars....you name, it's there...Muscle, Exotics, Rods,....etc.

  Enzo was with us and many people stopped us to inquire about her....we had the kids running up to her, because their parents never taught them the proper way to approach a dog, we had the woman who invited Enzo to jump up on her and I was told to " let her be a dog" for g-sakes.  We won't go into what my response to this person was....We had the morons who insist on walking their dogs on retractable leashes....but haven't quite figured out to retract them. 

  But....I had 2 different people approach me and tell me she was one of the most well behaved dogs they have seen...and both were flabbergasted to hear she was 9 months.   Yay.....I did my job! ( still doing my job)

Awesome for you guys!   I love that comment. I've taken Picco to many events, fairs, baseball games, farmers markets, and get comments on how well he behaves. It's rare if someone (an adult) has approached without asking to pet, and I think it is very sweet that kids have always asked first. I wonder if Picco's good behavior creates more politeness in people.

I never let children pet Enzo until they ask first...if they are very small, I tell them to ask their Mom or Dad first. Only then are they allowed to approach her.

Hooray!!!  Yay for good doodle ambassadors!!  Eloise does very well but "no jumping" is still our biggest challenge when adults approach her.  She gets it about 75% of the time...I often wonder if she's part kangaroo.  But I'm always amazed and thankful that she does NOT jump on kids, ever (knock on wood) - especially if they don't ask before approaching.  That was something she seemed to instinctively know, yet I'm still hyper-vigilant.  She's still a work in progress with the grown-people, though!  :)

Jumping on people is also our biggest challenge. And now that I think about it, she never jumps on kids....maybe it is because they are at her level?
I usually tighten up on the leash and then stand on or kneel on, keeping Enzo from jumping( I can usually tell when she WVEC thinking about it ;) )
Of course, one woman invited her to jump up on her yesterday and I said no...she says, oh I don't mind....then I have to launch into my "manners and dogs" speech. ;)
Have to say,Enz is getting much better...vigilance! And she even knows what "4 on the floor" means now!

I've wondered the same about maybe because kids are on her level.  I need to be quicker to get my foot on her leash!  (That's my fault.  Sometimes she lulls me into a false sense of security, and then - boing!  She jumps.) 

The adults who permit or invite jumping make me crazy.  I'm going to have to be more direct, and find a polite way to say "yes, but you're totally undermining my training..."  :)

I'm so impressed Enzo knows "4 on the floor"!!!  Still working on that with Ellie.  It's amazing how many words and phrases she knows - yet, mysteriously, she can't seem to comprehend that one.  Little turkey, lol!

Yay!! Good mommy! We took Sawyer to Home Depot today and also got many compliments! No one believes he's only 9 months old. A lot of it is just consistent training. My husband says we can't bring him anymore though because it took us three times as long since everyone wanted to stop us and see Sawyer! Ha!
