Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
I recently saw a picture of a blue-eyed chocolate goldendoodle pup. This pup is 8 weeks old and has striking blue eyes. I'm curious, are there any blue-eyed adult goldendoodles? My 2 dogs have hazel eyes and rose noses, but they didn't have blue eyes a 8 weeks old.

it was quite a read! did not have time to read it all, but what I did certainly was animated.
I'm guessing the only way to get a blue eyed pup is to breed a green-eyed dog with another breed that has blue eyes (husky, border collie... I'm sure there are others). I've never met a poodle, lab or retriever with anything other than brown, green or amber eyes so the blue-eyed gene shouldn't be in there!
I agree completely.
Right. It would be a genetic fluke in a poodle or retriever and not something you'd want to breed toward if you found it, not knowing what other health connections it would have. I have heard rare stories of chocolate F1 goldendoodles which is also supposed to not be possible because GR's don't have the genes for chocolate normally. Supposedly, the rare GR carries for it, but again it wouldn't be a good thing in a GR.
Well whatever went into the labrador and poodle because the green or hazel/yellow eyes go with the liver pigment that is not as desireable in the pure breed.
Chocolate labs may have hazel or greenish eyes. It happens with some of the brown shades of poodles, too, but it is not desirable.
Some Aussiedoodles have blue eyes. Not always the best thing though. I think I remember that if one eye is blue, that is okay, but if both are blue there could be other genetic problems.
Too tired to look up now. I'm heading for a nap.
Here is the poor AussieDoodle that has been on our front page for weeks, missing. One blue eye
So after almost 1 year what are the color of your puppy's eyes?
