Lola is 9 weeks 3 days. She's been to vet first time and tested negative for everything (we'll have a second to confirm in a little over a week). However, after we got her poop to firm up a bit, she now has mucus on the tail end of it. The past 3-4 days she's done this. Saturday I stated giving her a teaspoon of plain fat free yogurt once in the AM and she gets about a tablespoon of canned pure pumpkin mixed in with her food. We have not changed up her food yet. Sorry...I'm attaching a photo. This is after she pooped outside- came back in and 2 minutes later left me this.

Thank you, Janice. :)

Is there a specific med I should ask for over another? When she came to us she was on panacur and albon

See my reply above.

It sounds like she had giardia when she came to you. It's possible that either it was never cleared, or that she reinfected herself. have you been scrupulous about disinfecting and supervising her outside?

Okay- so she has an appointment tomorrow AM.  I went outside- there is not a lick of her poop anywhere.  It's up.  We'll continue to pick up as she goes.  As far as inside goes...and making sure my kids don't get it.  What can I do?  My plan is: to wash the towel and the bed she sleeps on, and lysol it after it comes out of the dryer.  Lysol spray the carpets she runs around on.  If it's a hard rubber chew toy- lysol wipe it??  Bust out the extra purell and soap for the humans.  I'd love any suggestions you can give.  Seriously.  I'm frustrated!  I really thought after we got her poop firmed up she was in the clear...then as soon as that happens...ugh.  I'll look for where to purchase those probotics as soon as I finish typing this.  Do you suggest we continue with the pumpkin (1T/feeding 3x a day) and the plain fat free yogurt (1t/feeding 3x a day?).

Amazon DC

Is this the right one?  She's about 10lbs.

Yes, that's the right probiotic.

Continue giving the yogurt, that's for the probiotics. I would give at least 2 tablespoons twice a day.

The pumpkin is only fiber, which can sometimes help firm up stool. It won't do any harm, but it may not do much good, either.

Something Definitely isn't right. Also I would wipe her behind and paws with a baby wipe when she comes inside from using the bathroom!
Yea, so her stool came back negative again. They send it out- so it's accurate. She seems to be a bit more sleepy- and she hasn't eaten a ton. I'm not sure she likes the yogurt and pumpkin mixed in as much. I may just try giving it to her on a spoon. Vet snuck in the Iams probiotic..I'll have to order the other one when we get paid again. Said to go ahead and start a slow transition onto another food. He of course doesn't want fromm- but I don't like Purina...eh. Any other suggestions? We have another appointment on the 27th

None of the foods we recommend are going to mesh with the vet's suggestions, because the vets only recommend the brands they sell: Purina, Hill's, Royal Canin, and Iams. All made by multinational corporations, with ingredients outsourced. Most of us here have agreed to disagree with their vets on food brands.

What are you currently feeding, I didn't see that mentioned.

But clearly there is something wrong with your pup, and you need to know what it is. The fact that they sent the test out really doesn't mean it's accurate, but even if it is, something is not right; a healthy puppy doesn't have bloody mucus coming out of them. Sleepiness is not a great sign, either.

Sorry! She's on life's abundance. I'm transitioning to Fromm gold she slept a chunk of the morning and is now hopping around playing w/her rawhide. We've had 2 negatives on the stools...I'm comfortable going w/Fromm I know where it came from and such. I think if the vet says something again I'll just have to respectfully disagree. I don't want to go w/one if the four but if it ends up being food related...not sure what to do! I don't see 'blood' it looks like after you blow your nose on a dry day - if that makes any sense.

Regarding the rawhide…do you think that can be contributing to the issues going on?  I personally would hold off on giving any type of chew until you get things figured out.

When our dog Woody was a puppy, I think we had close to two months of loose stools and negative fecals until the last one finally showed up positive for Giardia..
