Introducing Hugo

I just wanted to post my first official Hugo photo. We brought him home on Saturday, 3-15-14. He is now 9 weeks old and weighs 9+ pounds. He is a multigen Australian Labradoodle. He is the sweetest, most affectionate puppy, except when he has his mouthy periods each day, but we get through them - the kisses and snuggles make up for having to work so hard to prevent the biting/nipping. We are looking forward to working with our trainer in puppy kindergarten, and eventually moving onto obedience training. Hugo has been lots of fun to train, since he is very receptive. We have not had any "accidents" during the past few days, and he slept through the night for the past 2 nights. So all good so far. Every day is a new adventure with Hugo in the family!

Wow! Hugo is a CUTIE! I got my Omar on the 10th and he was exactly 9 weeks old at the time and weighed the same as your Hugo. Did your breeder tell you how much she thinks Hugo will weigh as an adult?

Congrats on you sweet puppy! The biting will improve daily as long as you're consistent with correcting it. You're doing a great job with the house training! :)

Thanks! He is supposed to be in the 45 pound range at maturity. Both parents were 45 pounds. The mom is leggy though, and much taller that I would have expected for that weight! Hugo seems to be leggy like mom also! How big will Omar be? He is also super cute! How are things going with him?

I was told that Omar would be between 20 and 35 pounds. His mother weighs 37 pounds and his father is only 14 pounds. I was quite surprised at how big Omar was when I saw him! I suspect he's going to be over 35 pounds but at this point I don't care.

Things are going really great! He is such a fast learner. He already knows sit, come, down and "give me your paw." His house training is going *pretty* well although we have about 2-3 accidents per day. Usually it's if I get distracted and ignore him for more than an hour. The biting was pretty bad at first but he has already learned not to do it and he is way more into licking our hands now with sweet puppy kisses. At night he inevitably enters a total puppy insanity phase during which he becomes absolutely crazed and I play fetch with him and keep him running until he runs out of steam. Overall, he is a wonderful puppy and I love him with my whole heart!

Hugo looks quite a bit like my previous dog Chico who was a black schnoodle and the best dog ever. I still miss him every day. He lived to be 16 and everyone who met him loved him. Hugo has very intelligent eyes and a lot of personality. I love his floppy ears too! Enjoy your beautiful puppy!
