Some do...my past pups that suffered from motion sickness did. But...some don't.
Where in your car/truck/SUV is he. Sitting in the front seat helps.
Try just sitting in the driveway, no motion first. Then slowly, take short trips...making them longer and longer. Empty stomach helps too.
I've literally been holding him with a towel in my lap... Thinking it's nerves and trying to comfort him and he still gets sick. He acts terrified ... So now I don't know if it's because he's scared of the car or if he just knows it makes him sick.
All the more than...just sit in the car with him. Play, make it fun, maybe a few treats. If it's fear, it can easily be squashed. Go slow!

You may want to try him off your lap. Ragley got sick every time she rode on someone's lap. She transitioned to the back seat in her own space (covered with towels) and she is much more content and comfortable when she is laying in her own area. I still don't think she loves it as I think laying down helps make her feel better, but she has definitely come leaps and bounds from where we were to start! Good luck!

Oh and I also make sure she has not eaten within about an hour of going in the car. That has also helped

Ok thank you ! I just want to be able to take him everywhere with me :(
Good luck! I was just thinking how, if Enzo had gotten motion sickness, what a sucky thing that would have been. She goes just about everywhere with us...great socialization and great training opportunities.
My old Golden got motion sickness...not fun, but soon grew out it, and if I remember, at a fairly young age. Like everything else...time and patience ;)
If it is a fear related thing, time and comforting, and age maturity may help tremendously.

Our first doodle Charlie gets motion sickness and has since he went to his first vet visit at 9 weeks.  He is 3 now and still has issues in the SUV and I have tried everything ( thundershirt, Bach rescue therapy, and Dramamine prescribed by vet.)  The only way he can ride in a SUV is if he is in front seat. I recently got a new car (Ford Fusion) and he can now ride in the backseat without any problem and even looks out the window which he would never do in the suv.   I know what you mean - you feel so bad for them.  I have a grandson that has that problem too and he either has to drive or ride shotgun.

When AnnaBelle was little I used to have to watch when I fed her when I knew that we were going for a ride.  I couldn't feed her to close to the time we would be leaving.  I would then have some little kibbles with me and occasionally give her just a few in the car so her tummy didn't get empty.  She has now outgrown it and does fine in the car.

My guy outgrew it!  Here's hoping yours will, too.

My Guinness was the same way as a puppy.  I got a prescription from my Vet for cerenia which I gave him an hour before a trip and it worked like a charm.  Eventually he outgrew it and now he loves riding in the car.

My poor Oliver was that way too but he would poop and puke and what a mess.  He did grow out of it and here is what helped us..... If at all possible keep him facing foward, don't feed or let him drink before you get in the car.  Also, you may want to just start with sitting in the car with him for a couple of minutes and make the car a positive, happy thing.  Your neighbors will think your nuts but it helps.  Slowly introduce the car then when he seems a bit more comfortable, take a ride around the block, then when he is OK with that take a little longer ride, etc. etc.  Good luck :)

A couple of us are going through this right now.  Mine is now about 20 weeks and still gets car sick.  Lots of drooling then lots of puking.  So hard because we want her to go everywhere with us, but she just can't!  Read up on how to de-sensitize them… I think once they get sick a few times, then they start to have a psychological issue too and really just dislike the car.  Sitting in front seems to help, as well as windows open.  I've also tried to do "mini" trips where we just go really slow and give lots of treats.  I read a lot of places that this is a common problem with Goldendoodles, and many will outgrow it and its allegedly due to their inner ears not being fully developed.  Either way, I would keep working on it and trying it, even if you wait a few weeks to see if age helps. Good luck… its hard!  And gross!
