Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Wendell is 4 months (goldendoodle) and is going through a weird coat change.
The fur on his chest, legs, belly, and sides is fluffy fleece-like, but he has this weird line running down his spine of darker coarse, wiry, short hair. It's really bizarre. I've noticed he is shedding a bit....
Is it common to have two different sections of hair types? I'm wondering how it will end up when he reaches adulthood.....Do puppy's hair generally fill out again and get longer as they mature?
Thanks in advance, this is all new to me!

Bailey still has different hair down the middle of her back. It has a more wiry feel than the rest of her....and is a bit darker too. She is two and a half years old.
Owen went through the same thing at that age. He no longer has the stripe at 3 1/2 years old, but he has different types of fur in different parts of his body. His chest has very straight, soft, thin fur that is white, his tail is wiry, wavy and cream colored. His back is strawberry blond and very wavy, thick fleece. He sheds a little bit and I think it is from the straight white part of him. Some on this site have said that they either shed or they don't but living with this guy for 3 years I am pretty positive the shedding bit (not much at all) is only from the white straight parts of him. Our other doodle is almost black and does not shed. Their coats are such a mystery and adventure when they are growing up!
