I have an almost 7 year old Goldendoodle who hates to have her front legs brushed or combed and always has. Her back legs are fine along with her feet but the front...she will lay down and tuck her paws and legs under her to keep from letting me brush but I always win. I hold one of the legs and brush the other. She can't pull it away because she will fall down!!! She is not as bad about my brushing the back sides of her front legs so I start there and work my way around.
I will be curious to know what others have to say. I hear that all dogs seem to not like their front legs brushed. She is fine with my stroking them and giving her leg scratches with my hands and fingers...just no brush!!
Our Teddi is the same but she is okay if I go slow and use a steel comb..petting her in between, no pulling.
Tara is 5 years old and still hates having her front legs messed with in any way by any body! Like Gracie Doodle, she will try to tuck her legs and paws under so I can't get to them. She is most tolerant of the Bamboo comb with rolling pins. Brushes are the worst and even with the comb it is very slow going with lots of treats (bribes!). It also helped to get a grooming table so I could keep her in a confined area.
The Bamboo comb is a line of combs. Some or all of them have teeth or pins that spin or rotate as opposed to being stationary. So it gives a bit and doesn't seem to pull as badly as a comb with stationary pins.

Ned hates to be brushed period! But he really hates his front legs brushed. He tucks his front paws under him and will not willingly let me brush.
