Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

What are we doing wrong? Izzy spent first 6 months in a crate in my bedroom - and slept through the night. She sleeps outside the crate now in my bedroom. Now she gets restless and moves around from bedroom to bathroom - wants out to potty around midnight and again at 4 am. I refuse the 4 am and she either moves downstairs or into the bathroom and  back to sleep. She is just restless. She gets 3 45 minute walks a day - ball throwing - LOTS of attention. No water before bed. Do Labradoodles just need human contact every 4 hours?!  We are going out of our minds with the constant waking us up.

If you rule out a bladder infection, I'd say she might be thirsty or looking for a cooler spot.  Finn moves from the bed to the floor but he's usually curled up on the bed again by morning.  I leave a bowl of water in the bathroom.

I agree with the water, if Max doesn't have water he will wake me up but if he has water he won't. He will move around on the bed some, move to the floor etc, but if there is no water he will ask to go outside even though he doesn't need to.

Bentley and Porsche sleep through the night. They will change positions on our bed, but usually b/c my husband or I are moving. Maserati however, is all over the place! We make sure he has quiet toys to play with during the night, if not, the squeak toys will wake us up! Thankfully, he is well behaved and will play by himself without waking his siblings up!

Peri moves from her bed, to the floor by the vent, to our bed at 5am.  she rarely stays in one spot....

Our dogs switch spots through the night, but I sleep with ear plugs so I rarely hear them unless they are really having issues.    Also we keep our door closed so they can't leave the room and wander.  If you rule out any urinary tract issues, Try a fan or turn the temp down at night and see if that helps.  Otherwise, if it were me, I value my sleep enough I'd move her to the crate elsewhere if just ordering her to lie down when she got up and started bugging me didn't work.

Quincy is up and down off our bed, at our feet, sometimes between us, and then now that the weather is breaking, into the cool shower floor -    He will lick DH if he has to go out (not me - now that's a good trait) but that is not frequent and usually has to do with some diet indiscretion.

Diet indiscretion...I'll have to use that one! :-)

LOL...Me too!

Gavin moves around a bit at night finding a cooler spot but is very quiet about it.  If he truly needs to be let out he shakes his head (flapping his ears).  In the day time this motion causes his tags to rattle which gets our attention so I guess he just carries the same technique forward at night even though the collar is off.  We ignored him two nights ago when he did it...guess what...he threw up on the mat right next to the door outside :(  Dumb humans!

If it is not at UTI I would think it is just a habit.

Chase is an early morning head shaker too! It is amazing how much noise they can make flapping their ears around! During the week I am up at 6am to walk them before work, so sometimes it is hard to sleep-in late because they are used to getting up early.

Thank you all! My last dog  (a rescue cutie) slept 8-10 hours a night without MOVING until she died at 17. Izzy moves, shakes her collar - goes downstairs. It sounds normal after all the replies. . I agree with the water -always -available.

Yes, I'll Molly moves around a bit at night too, from on my bed, under my bed, and on the couch.  But only rarely wakes me, and then it's to go to the bathroom. She has on those occasions jumped right up on the bed to get my attention then ran over to the door and barked.  The only reason I'm aware she moves around is because she has a better bladder than I, and I see her when I have to get up to use the washroom.
