Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Okay, our puppy arrives home next month and I have been staying clear of the food group lately as it is raising my worry level over food and tummy issues.  So, I thought, there surely are folks out there with a positive experience?  Raise your paws and respond here if your puppy has never had long-term tummy issues, and tell me if you have a goldendoodle or a labradoodle.  Also, which food do they eat? Just looking for some reassurance - thank you!

Gee, that is expensive. I can get the Acana Wild Prairie for less than double that for a 28plus pound bag. At any rate using the " a pint's a pound rule", which is for water which is heavier than kibble I'd say that is at least 9 days at 1and1/2cup per day. If you keep your pup on Life's Abundance for 2 weeks, which is recommended, and then transition you would not have enough if my calculations are right.
I agree that it probably isn't enough for the transition. The next larger size is 17.6 lbs for $70.33! These are the non-auto-ship prices. I will donate the extra to our Lucky Mutt Rescue.
If you agree to auto ship can you cancel it at any time? That might work.

We had to cancel auto ship at Chewy.com  because we "think" we got  a bad bag of food and already had another large bag of the same food from the same batch.  We decided to buy the food we needed to transition from another place and then began ordering the new food from Chewy. We did not have any trouble canceling.  It was also very easy to change the date on the auto shipments when we realized exactly how much we needed for two growing pups.  I'm curious about others' experiences with it... Did we just get lucky or is consistently that easy?

We buy the large bag of Orijen and spend about that.  We purchase at our local pet store. However you are getting your Orijen is way more than you should be paying.

We had our share of tummy issues but these were resolved with a strict diet, timing of feedings, and maturity.

We are able to free feed in our home. I know many cant, but my dog eats when he wants to eat. Sometimes after two days we encourage eating because I think he forgets.  He typically eats small amounts a few times a day then may lie down at times at eat a slow good meal that he seems to enjoy so much.  In his past life, I'm sure he was accustomed to fine dining.

We NEVER feed table scraps, make our own treats, and we feed Acana.

We pay $75.99 for the 26lb of Orijen...free shipping. From Chewy. But recently, our Vet gave us a handful of $5 coupons off of Orijen, so I have been buying it at our local Kahoots pet store. Comes up just a few bucks cheaper. Chewy runs sales often enough, I usually buy in bulk then.
I buy from doggiefood.com. Originally they excluded Acana from sales but now it is included so I buy several bags when it's on sale.
I see they charge the same price for Orijen , with the same shipping policy
It is a competitive world. Right now they don't charge sales tax and the customer service is great.

We have a local store, Natural Pawz, that has Orijen in stock.  I'm excited to go in this week and buy locally.  Already ordered the Life's Abundance to cover the first couple weeks or so.  About to drop some $$ on Chewy.com to finish off some puppy supplies shopping =)

We just paid $69.00 + tax at our local pet store for the large bag of Orijen.
