Tips for cleaning plush toys

How do you guys clean your doodles' plush toys (with and without squeakers)? Some of our toys are getting a little gross so I'm wondering what to do with them. Washing machine, hand wash? Or just leave them alone?

My human kids' toys go into the washer and dryer...generally come out fine.  I think a seam or two has come apart but nothing too hard to sew back up.

I have never had to wash them -before they get dirty, Peri rips them to shreds :)

Thanks for the all the advice, everyone. We'll try the washing machine and a laundry bag and see if the squeakers survive (I hope not, even though Sepp will be disappointed if they don't ;)). He is not a heavy chewer at all, so his toys are all still intact.
