Hi Maizy! I don't have a doodle of my own yet, but maybe I can point you toward some things I've found in my internet travels.
There was recently a thread that included growth charts. You can find it here.
I also have a development chart my breeder turned me on to. It's on the idogrescue site, here. It includes other developmental milestones as well.
Hope it helps!
I am wondering a a bit about Hoka's weight.. he is 6 months and only 32 lbs. He looks huge, though because he is really tall and thin with lots of fur. I am very strict on his diet... and he is ALWAYS hungry. He is very active. I am wondering if I should loosen up and feed him more.
Maybe I'll check in on the food group too.
Interesting, Marie - we have a 6 m/o mini ALD; totally different from my medium guy, who was 32 lbs at 3 1/2 when we sadly lost him last year, who ate when fed but was more of a a finicky eater -- this one SCARFS down everything in a matter of seconds. Haven't weighed her lately but I'd say she's maybe 14 lbs, supposed to grow to 20/22. I may meet you over in the food group….
It's difficult to say. Yarrow's parents were both 60 pounds and she's already outgrown them by 10 pounds at 8 months. I read that large breed dogs (retrievers included) can continue to grow for 15 months. Yarrow's obviously taking after a grandparent or great-grandparent.
Sky is adorable. If she is of mini stock, then she was done growing by 8 months. If she is of standard stock, she will continue to grow til about 18 months.
Knew I could count on Nancy (a name I know for quite a long time here) to gauge this. A relief for me and my mini I need to fit on the plane with us in Aug. when she'll be exactly 8 mos. and is looking promising. If she stays that size hope to have another frequent flier in the family!
