Just thought I would let you all know that Hoka did more then fine on his adventure at doggie boarding/doggie daycare over the weekend. He and Moxie stayed from Wednesday morning until Monday dinner-time.
Each time I called to check-in (daily), they pretty much laughed and said Hoka was having great fun. I think he is essentially mayor of doggie playhouse now.
He actually looks depressed to be home today... completely bored!
I know they were honest about it, because they let me know Moxie (my little doxie-terrier mix) was not as happy, but seemed to survive unscathed.
Also note the very cute summer cut they gave him while he was there:

Glad it went so well. It will make going away next time that much easier!
Awesome - Hoka is such a lovely dog and Moxie is a doll (I used to have ShihTzu named Moxie, she was a redhead and it fit)
I was a wreck when we boarded our girl last year and frankly am having a tough time with the idea again. Especially now that there are two and my little fella is super glued to me. Once upon a time my kids would sit for me, but they seem to have lives now that are not so flexible. I sweated bullets over the whole thing, even though she was boarded with a vet who owns a kennel and I had to promise hubby not to cry (I managed but he nearly lost it halfway through our vacation as we visited a local Humane Society looking for a sibling).
However - she came home happy, tired, and we all survived. It did take several days for her to get back in the swing of normalcy here and the feedback about her behavior was good, but darn it we sure missed her. We were gone almost three weeks and wish I had taken the approach to test the waters with a short stay over, then perhaps a longer one - but I jumped in and didn't drown in tears. That being said, all the feedback was good - but upon picking her up we quickly heard gasps of surprise at how well trained our girl is... that made me wonder about her three week partying
Yay! Always happy to hear that the vacation was not traumatizing for dogs or humans!
