sitting/laying down awkwardly in the middle of eating

We feed twice a day, dry kibble (Currently Canidae Pure / Previously TOTW). Nine times out of ten, he will eat the whole bowl fine. Not too fast, not too slow. Occasionally, though BB will do this weird thing where he will get "awkward" partway through his meal. He'll sit down, and just "look uncomfortable" then about 45 seconds later, he'll go back to eating his food. Just tonight, for dinner, for example, partway through his meal, he walked away about 4 feet from the food bowl, and laid down on the ground and gave me a funny look, stood up, moved positions, laid down again, stood up, moved positions and laid down again. I was watching him, very concerned. I asked him if he was OK, and he got up and finished his bowl and seemed 100% fine. We went out for his after dinner pee, and he was totally fine, and 5 minutes later he seems completely normal again. He has NEVER vomited up his meal after his food, and he experiences these moments of awkwardness more frequently when we are traveling. 

Is he just swallowing funny (maybe a kibble scratches his throat?) and am I being just a worry wort? Or might it be something to be genuinely concerned about?

Maybe gas? Mojo belches really loud after his meal but no problems. No your not a worry wart, better be careful and keep your  Doodle safe.

maybe… He does burp after every meal. Not a big one, but definitely noticeable.

Does he lay down or stop eating before or after the burp? Before could mean he may be trying to burp, I know when it happens to me can be a bit painful.

Gas was my first thought, too. 

I can tell you that it not caused by kibble scratching his throat. That's just not very likely.

I would try to see if there is a pattern to these episodes. Maybe they happen on a day when he's been more active than usual, that kind of thing? Travelling can cause digestive upsets.

As long as he isn't vomiting or having diarrhea, and seems fine afterward, it doesn't sound like anything to be too concerned about.

Thank you, Karen. it does seem like gas is the likely culprit. Considering when we travel, BB pants a LOT -- likely leading up to a large buildup of air swallowing and gas.
