Sky was spayed yesterday, we picked her up at 2pm today. I missed her!

She has to be leashed to go outside for 2 weeks, is that normal? It's no problem but I was just a little surprised. I'm sure it's to make sure she doesn't over-do it.

So far she's been listening about not jumping but she did jump onto the couch once, she didn't seem to be hurting at all. How long before I can let her up onto the couch with me?

I'm hoping her behavior will indicate how well she's doing. She just seemed down today, which is understandable, but sad!

She also had an umbilical hernia repaired. Will this affect her recovery?

I'm sad that I'm working tonight (I'm a RN and work midnights, my husband is home with her) and I miss her! I had him send me a picture of her on my phone and it made me miss her most!

When Lily was spayed, she also had an umbilical hernia repaired. The first week she was very low key, and did not show that she wanted to play a lot, the second week she began to bounce back but it took her almost 2 1/2 weeks to recover. As for being on the couch, Lily did jump on the couch after her surgery (it was hard to stop her). But she would get up and then rest. As long as she is not up and down a lot, I think she should be ok. Definitely just watch her behavior, she may seem down but she'll bounce back! :)

No advice, but heal quickly Sky!

I hope Sky is feeling better today!

Hi, Hope Sky recovers quickly.  We propped up the couch cushions to keep Alma off the furniture.  We also put a board across the stairs so she couldn't climb them.  Our vet told us 2 weeks until we could take her on walks and let her have her normal routine back.  She wore the cone of shame at night when we couldn't watch her.
