Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Hello Everyone! It's picking time for my Goldendoodle puppy and I couldn't be more excited! I have first pick and have narrowed it down between these three boys. They are standard size just over 5 weeks oldand all weigh approx 5 lbs 15 oz. Since I live out of state, I have to rely on pics alone and would love to hear if any of these pups (particularly their color/coat/size) resembles any of your dogs features this age. This is totally just for fun, but I'd like any opinions on what you think these pups might look like as they get older. If you have any feedback at all, I'd love to hear it. I will post 2 pics of pup #1, then 2 pics of pup#2, and 2 pics of pup #3 and then a group shot of their heads. They are f1bs (mom is a Red standard poodle weighs 45 lbs and Goldendoodle dad is apricot and weighs 60 lbs). I'm mostly curious what you guys think as far as wavy, shaggy, or curly coat. I really don't see any main differences, so if you do please point them out. Also, if one of these looks like your dog as a pup, I"d like to see what your wonderful doodle looks like now. Breeder says their temperaments are all great and about the same, very active, playful and loving.

What a tough choice. Going strictly by appearance, I'd choose the third puppy. He looks like he might be a bit less curly than the first two, and I love that his ears seem a bit darker than the rest of his body. He's absolutely stunning, and looks like he'd grow up to be a very handsome boy. I'd press the breeder, though, to try to distinguish their personalities to help you make a decision. Perhaps you could speak with her and describe what you're hoping for in terms of temperament, and she could help you choose.
To me the third one has the best coat. So did you choose?
We just picked up our pup on Thursday and when I was choosing, the one that ran over and licked me got picked. I took our daughter back to pick him up and all 11 littermates were there, but only one pup ran over and licked her,,,,same one!!!!
assuming the personalities/temperaments are pretty equal, you can't lose no matter which one you pick :) remember, the blocky head will be hidden by a shaggy face...
Well, I am no expert of coats, but I had an F1b goldendoodle and he had the most fantastic coat of any of my dogs. It never matted and required very little grooming. It felt wonderful and always in good condition. Take a look on my page at his photos. He was the black phantom goldendoodle. I am also partial to reds, but I love the look on the little blond guy and he has the greatest expression on his face. Good luck. Hopefully if you are driving to pick up your pup in a few weeks, he does not get car sick.
All three are precious. Which did you choose?
I like the one closet to the right and if that's #3 then that's my pick! I would find out about their personality as best as you can though. At the end of the day, you may ended up with a beautiful doodle but you have a dog that doesn't fit your family, then what? Good luck!
I picked NUMBER 3!!!! His name will be Gumbo (I live in Southern Louisiana) and wanted a strong, yet cute Southern name :) We get him in a few more weeks! Yay!!
Congrats to you and Gumbo! We brought our puppy home last week and he has been special.
Congratulations!
Oh Ashley ~ I am so happy for you. Gumbo is the perfect name! Looking forward to seeing homecoming photos.
Ok guys!!! I hope everyone who helped me gets notification of this. Not sure if I have to reply to each one of you individually, or you will get notified if I just send a general reply to this message.. Guess we will soon find out. haha... Ok ............ So even tho this entire time I was really leaning toward the dark red boy, my gut has told me something else. Maybe it's his full coat, maybe it's his eyes, maybe it's his HUGE puppy paw..........But I had to follow my heart and my gut and so I made my pick last night......and it is Pup #3. The lightest colored one that is the largest of the litter! He's just over 5 weeks and weighs 6 lbs! His name will be Gumbo. (I live in Southern Louisiana and wanted a Southern style name). Anyway, I'm over the moon with my choice and feel it's the right one. I'm nervous, scared, excited all at the same time. I know many of you will not believe this, but this will be my FIRST EVER dog to own (and I'm 36 years old!) Even as a child I never had one. So, you guys better be prepared for all my dummy questions because this is all new territory for me. I have 3 kiddos ages 4, 7, and 8. We have already been doing role playing where they act like Gumbo and I am the trainer. (true story) so they will know the training techniques I will be using! I am prolly taking this overboard, but I really want to have a true Wonder dog!! I want to invest all my time and energy to my Gumbo. I am really lucky I can take him to work everyday with me bc I own a local clothing boutique here in town. Anyway, I'm super thrilled!! Here are pics of Gumbo and a few with his brother, (the dark red one which I almost picked.)
And here he is with his dark red brother
Look at his huge puppy paw!!!
Going with your heart is the best! He is wonderful - can't wait until you get him and we can hear all about it! Don't know how you picked - I was leaning towards all 3! :)
