Asking for Prayers for a friend's toddler

Hi DK Friends,

If any of pray, I could use some prayers for a friend.  Her husband and two sons (my kids' ages) were in a terrible accident.  They were leaving the lake, traveling on a dirt road and hit an area of washboard and it sent them over the cliff and into a lake.  The dad was able to pull the eldest out and he got CPR right away.  The youngest (2.5 years old) was not found by Dad but rangers were able to find him.  The eldest boy has been released and is okay.  But their toddler is hanging by a thread. The latest update from my friend:

"Riley was lifeless for 2hrs and 20min before they were able to get a heart beat. Over the course of the day and A LOT of work, they have been able to stabilize him. They are keeping him in a hypothermic state to help keep his body from over working itself. We have about a 24 hour window of time to wait while they slooooowly warm up his body. After that 24 hrs, we will have a better idea of brain activity. Warriors - we have 24 hours to move mountains."

This is never good, but when it happens to a child, it's heart-wrenching to think about because my son and her son are only about a month apart in age.  So I can imagine how scary and painful this time is.  Please if you pray, pray for a miracle!

Very strange, I am currently reading a book, The Secret Keeper, and this exact scenario happened to the family of one of the main characters - I just read this portion yesterday. Prayers for your friends and their little one - I have heard many stories like this with happy endings. Children are extremely resilient and I hope that this holds true for this family. Please let us know.....

I was hoping that Adina would give you this heartbreaking info, but since she hasn't, I am very sorry to say that the little boy is in Heaven. His parents had the amazing strength and grace in the midst of their grief to donate his organs, and I believe that 3 or 4 other children's lives were saved. So Riley lives on.

How awful for the family...I can't even imagine.  But how generous of them to donate his organs.  I am very sad......I was hoping he would hold on.  :(  Thanks for the update.  Adina, I am so sorry!

I am just seeing this post today and did read down to see if there were any updates.  Losing a child is heartbreaking.  My prayers and thoughts go out to Riley's parents, brother, relatives and friends.
