Do any of you have an experience with your puppy that he/she gets crazy with one specific person? My son is 9, and whenever one of his friends comes over, Preston gets absolutely crazy. By crazy I mean he won't listen to us, jumps up on the neighbor boy, bites him (play bite), and basically won't leave him alone. We've tried to tell the neighbor boy to ignore him, but he has a tough time because he desperately wants a dog of his own, and comes over to play with ours.
We've tried keeping Preston on a leash inside while the boys are playing, but he really doesn't settle down until the neighbor leaves. I've had the neighbor give him treats and make him sit and behave, but the minute he is out of treats, Preston is right back to his crazy behavior. I thought getting him neutered would help settle him down, but that hasn't helped either. Any thoughts?

Following... We need advice for this too!
Violet still does this ans she is almost 2....also,goes crazy outside when we see or talk to the neighboors... nned advice too
If it is the one boy, I assume that it is his 'emotional energy' that Preston picks up on.
Give Preston a job to do when guests visit. When he's so excited he's not able to process commands being given, he's thinking with the back part of his brain. To get him back in the front part of the brain where learning can take place you need to get his attention by making him do a job he really knows how to do. For Shaggy, it's give me 5 or sit pretty that make him focus back on me. When I have his attention then he will listen better to commands for off and leave it. When I take my boys places, whenever they have to wait for me they are in a sit or down stay the entire time (that't their job). I may even have to stand on Shaggy's leash to keep him down at first until he learned some self control.
I also suggest that whenever anyone comes to your house they completely ignore Preston (don't look at him, talk or touch him) until he is completely relaxed. When he starts getting excited and jumping on people they need to become a "boring tree". Check out" DoggoneSafe.com for greater detail on being a tree.
Good luck.
