Finished the sixth book by Diana Galbaldon and have to admit that I don't know what I am going to do at 3:00 in the morning now. I have a habit of only sleeping about 5-6 hours and when I wake up I know I will not be going back to sleep so I get up and read for a couple of hours, then go back to bed and get a couple hours more of sleep. Diana's books have been my night-time companions all year.
Thanks, Carla, for the suggestion of another author - Deborah Harkness. When I take the last Galbaldon book back to the library, I will get the books by Harkness. I love time travel and historical fiction, so these sound perfect to me. BTW, I read my first Galbaldon book on my iPad, but then started getting them at the library. When the first one was 100 chapters and I saw it was 700 pages, I just found library books worked better for me. I still get lost sometimes on my iPad and was spending way too much time looking for my place in the book. Shorter books work much better for me.
Anybody else Diana Galbaldon fans? I thought we should have a new discussion because the What are you reading now? discussion was getting pretty long.

Want to thank you for the recommendation. I'm on the second Anna Belfrage book in the series....there are now 6 of them. Couldn't get them at the library, so bought them, but now the librarian is wanting to read them, lol. Only "problem" is that now I'll have to finish all of them before I can dive back into Outlander, with In My Own Hearts Blood :)
The Anna Belfrage books are a bit more modern, as far as the main character that travels back and also not nearly as in depth as Outlander, but definitely a fun read. I'm looking forward to reading all of them.
Mary, Book 6 just came out in e-book format. Yes, I also have to finish the series to before I start MOBY.
I also happened upon another fun time travel author. I'm on Book 2.The author is Bethany Claire, Morna's Legacy Series. Again it's setting is Scotland 1650's and current. A different take on time travel. And there's a witch in this one. A good witch...lol. Very enjoyable summer read and the characters are fun:)
Now a sixth book. It is definitely on my list to read, but probably not in the library yet. Anna Belfrage was not, so probably Bethany Claire will not be either. So I have to buy them or wait. No bookstores (can you believe it!) in Monterey County so I have to get my books when I am up at the outlets and I hate to go up there. But at least it is a good reason to take the drive.
MOBY is out! Can't wait to dig in to Diana's latest. Enjoy-all you Outlander fans!
YES! I wish we had a bookstore here. I may run up to Barnes and Noble to see if I can get it.
Lori...what is MOBY? Am I missing some expression?..lol
I also can't wait to catch up with old friends Jamie and Claire!!! BUT I now have to finish the Anna Belfrage books first....dang!!!!
I think it stands for My Own Heart's Blood. That is the name of the book but the author refers to it as MOBY.
Looked for Moby and it was not available in Monterey County. We have a definitely lack of book stores here. Did find a book store in Watsonville (Santa Cruz County) that should be getting it in on Monday. So, I can order it from Amazon or drive up to Watsonville to get it.
I did - drive up to the outlets to get the book. Couldn't wait until Monday, so had it on Thursday and partly read by Monday.
I got the latest book, Written in my own heart's blood, otherwise known as Moby (don't know why) and will probably have it finished this week. It is a typical Diana Gabaldon book, and I have read them all. I want to have them all read (and reread in some cases) by the beginning of August. The TV series begins in August on STARZ and I have even subscribed to the stations, even though I seldom watch TV. Really looking forward to this and I love the previews (mostly on FB).
I'm waiting until my DH leaves for Alaska for a week this Friday to go fishing. Then I have all week to savor and read with no interruptions, besides the doodles, of course..lol
Bought In My Own Hearts Blood, intending to reread all of them, but got sidetracked by the Anna Belfrage series. Will finish those up (6 total) and am so excited to start Outlander. Figure that it will be fresh in my mind when the TV show starts on August 9th. Then I'll have a great Fall and Winter read, with all the rest.
