I didn't know that I could laugh for hours. I had decide sometime ago that I was going to learn how to groom my doodles. I like my groomer, but she just doesn't always return the same dog to me. So I bought myself some clippers, I watched Ann’s (Sully mom) video on YOU TUBE and away I when to the basement. I had clippers in hand and a black dog (Sadie). So I began my adventure. Now I must say I have told myself that I would not make her short (like my groomer does to Charlie). The first couple of swipes and I'm thinking "wow "this isn't so bad. I was cutting and cutting. I stopped ran up stairs looked at the video and ran back down stair. All i could think about is that thank goodness her would start to grow back in a couple of weeks. I think I'll wait a while before I try Charlie
I think she looks great! I kept going back to the photo trying to see what you were upset abut. I can't see it. I have to have Samantha have a cut - we are going to Florida the end of January for about a month and if I get lucky enough I want to take her to the beach very often. I am afraid her hair will get matted. She has long basically straight expect for around her neck which is a little wavy. I hope Samantha will come back looking so good after her first trip to a groomer. Unless of course, you want to come here and show me how to do it????????
I think you did a great job. I would NEVER even attempt to cut Ned's fur. I am so bad that my kids used to run when I suggested cutting bangs or just trimming it up. Friends and neighbors took pity on my kids and "fixed" my attempts! A moving dog - No Way!

I think you did awesome! To be honest I did laugh a little bit, but I would not be able to do any better. I am just impressed that you were able to finish. I have seen dogs that have half their body cut and then the other half still has to be done. So just think how funny that would be. One day I will try to do it and will post a picture for you to show you how good of a job you did.
I think she looks great... and this was your first time? Our Abby is not quite 4 months, and eventually I will have to clip her too. I'm hoping she comes out looking 1/2 as good as Sadie.
I hated getting my dog back from the groomer and her hair would be almost completely gone. I bought a Robocut there is also a brand called flowbee. They attach to your vacuum cleaner hose and it sucks the hair into the tube and you put attachments on it for the length you want to cut off. If your dogs hair is long and you don't want to shave it you can cut as little as a half and inch off. This works very well. You can get them online. They come with an instructional dvd for pet cuts also. Good Luck!
