Photos of horrendous conditions at Beachside Doodles. Brevard County has just cracked down on a puppy mill running in Mims. Owner was in court Thursday, May 15, 2014 and found guilty on 69 counts of inhumane treatment and fined $18,000 for inhumane treatment and failure to vaccinate. He has now moved the dogs and puppies but is still advertising the puppies for sale. Goldendoodles and Labradoodles. He and his girlfriend use the company names of Beachside Doodles and Pretty Little Doodles and possibly other names. Sick puppies have been sold, some in the Lakeland area and elsewhere. His name is Leonardo Badia and his girlfriend is [Name removed by admin. Please contact OP]. If you hear of him selling any puppies or giving away adults "free to a good home" BEWARE!! Vet records have been produced on 5 adult dogs and at least one puppy so far. They need to be stopped! He drives a Lexus that he bragged the puppy sales paid for....yet the dogs he owns go without! He will most likely be selling as many puppies as possible to pay his fines. They are advertising that they are now taking deposits in Sammy's puppies....Sammy has been rescued thanks to some great people, she is heartworm positive, full of hook and whip worms, fleas infested, has a severe skin condition and will need ongoing medical care. Sammy's puppies are nothing more than a free ride for them. Please spread the word about them and DO NOT BUY from them. Help us break the cycle! If you see any "free to a good home" posts for Goldens, Labs, or Poodles, please respond to this post.

With JD's bills, that's not a bad idea! LOL

I also bought my Goldendoodle puppy from them a few months ago. I noticed about a month ago that their site and FB page was down so I've been searching to see if I see anything strange. I've rescued 2 dogs before and Finn is the first dog I actually got from a 'breeder'. We've had him for 3 months now and everything seems to be great. She produced first shot records and I've taken him to the vet 2 more times to finish up his shots. He is extremely active, social, and has a great temperament. Curious if anyone else purchased a puppy from them and if they have experienced any health issues/problems? Is there anything I should be looking for or worried about? Or is just a case by case thing.
If there are going to be genetic health problems, (and i sincerely hope there aren't), they typically don't show up until a dog is past 2 years old. Some orthopedic issues may show up sooner. The most important thing you can do for your puppy and for yourself is to purchase pet insurance now, before anything shows up. Any dog from anywhere can have health issues, and you never want to have to to make a decision based on money rather than what is best for your dog.
There's no one regulating or monitoring the purebred breeders, either. You have to be careful whenever you purchase any puppy from anyone. There are guidelines you can follow on many websites, including this one, to help you know what to look for and what might be a red flag. http://www.doodlekisses.com/notes/What_To_Look_for_In_a_Breeder
And there are doodle breeders who do genetic health testing on their breeding dogs and try to produce sound healthy puppies of good temperament, who I would not consider BYBs or puppy mill breeders.
The kennel clubs have nothing at all to do with monitoring breeders. Many, many puppy mill dogs have AKC papers. The kennel clubs sell registrations, sponsor events, and donate money for research, but they have nothing to do with regulating or monitoring breeders and nothing at all to do with individual breeds or breed standards.
There are also breed clubs which set the standards for their breeds, but even they do not monitor breeders.
Nicole, I'm so sorry for your loss. Very heartbreaking and a hard lesson to learn.......
