Yes, they look just like round ulcers.
For the third time since May, Spud has ulcers deep underneath his paw pad. Perfectly round, scarlet red, and this last one bled. I thought he might have ripped his nail at first. This happened long before it became too hot so, no, it is not hot blacktop. He hasn't been on any hot pavement. I also thought he might be getting stung in the grass?
They have occurred on different Paws so they are not the same ulcer not completely healed.
Any ideas what this might be?
We have a soak method that helps so I am not looking for treatment but a cause.
I cant figure out what is causing this to occur.
Allergies? Any illness that comes to anyone's mind?
He gets either depressed, in pain, or sick with them. Just not himself, but nothing to go to the vet about because they will just tell us to do the soaks, etc.
Just curious if anyone has dealt with this issue

Wish I could give you some info......but hoping Spud's paws heal up quickly!
Not sure if this is any help Joanne but I am adding pictures of what Meg's paws do every time I take her to Georgia with me in the spring. We are told this is allergies and to help avoid it (not while they are there because it stings) to spray paws off with vinegar solutions when they come in doors. To treat it we followed Karen's advice and healed nicely. Antihistamine, Fish oil capsules (we keep her on this year round now) and we added Epsom salt soaks when it happened this spring. These pictures are from this year, last years were way worse before we got it stopped (we were better prepared to deal with it the second time), so last years pictures would have shown the very center and along the side between her toes.
Similar. More deep and severe, with scarlet red round circles like a burn but similar. Different than an injury.
Thank you for letting me know what you found and how you are dealing with this problem.
He wears a sock and a scrunchy so often now it's like a normal dress code.
He delays going outside to potty without that sock knowing it will cause pain.
I'll look into your old post.
Thanks
Poor Spud, having sore pads is horrible so i really hope you find the solution soon. I have a sore on one of my feet behind one of my toes right now so I can empathise a bit :)
Poor Spud. I hope he finds relief and you find answers.
Hope you are able to find out the cause of this. It is no fun when our animals are hurting. Take care Spud!
Sorry to hear this about Spud..I hope he feels better soon!
