Day After Shots: GRUMPOLA!
The past two set of shots Leia has had, she is such a grump the next day. The day of the shots, she is sore, but the vet gives her a little pain medicine since she tends to be a little overdramatic about the soreness. Haha... I have a drama queen on my hands! Both times though, she is such a grump the day after. She will play and run full speed, so I don't think she is sore. But she is defiant and grumpy. She will just run up and bite us (she normally never does that), she won't listen to commands she knows and typically follows, etc. She ends up mostly in time out the day after shots. Anyone else have this happen? I'm REALLY glad Monday was her last set of puppy shots! HA!

I've not heard of a connection between grumpiness and the day after shots. My concern is the biting you described. Is she playing, dominating or being overly aggressive when she bites? What do you do when this happens? Pups can be very moody and behavior erratic, but biting for no apparent reason needs to be addressed right away.

Since this was posted... about 4 weeks ago... her biting has completely stopped. As a young pup, she was definitely testing me with that kind of behavior. But I don't tolerate it, and I'm an experienced dog owner, so she gets put straight on her back until she submits with a stern "NO". It took me doing it many times consistently, but she has calmed down considerably in the past two weeks. It was certainly not play biting, and she never broke skin, but she just acts overly grumpy the day after her shots. Thankfully, her puppy shots are over...
