Finished the sixth book by Diana Galbaldon and have to admit that I don't know what I am going to do at 3:00 in the morning now. I have a habit of only sleeping about 5-6 hours and when I wake up I know I will not be going back to sleep so I get up and read for a couple of hours, then go back to bed and get a couple hours more of sleep. Diana's books have been my night-time companions all year.
Thanks, Carla, for the suggestion of another author - Deborah Harkness. When I take the last Galbaldon book back to the library, I will get the books by Harkness. I love time travel and historical fiction, so these sound perfect to me. BTW, I read my first Galbaldon book on my iPad, but then started getting them at the library. When the first one was 100 chapters and I saw it was 700 pages, I just found library books worked better for me. I still get lost sometimes on my iPad and was spending way too much time looking for my place in the book. Shorter books work much better for me.
Anybody else Diana Galbaldon fans? I thought we should have a new discussion because the What are you reading now? discussion was getting pretty long.

so enjoying MOBY. I feel like I'm back with old friends!!!
OMG... I have been wracking my brain because I couldn't find ANY of my DG hardcover books after we did our kitchen remodel. I didn't think I gave them away because I would never do that. As I'm reading your post I realized where they are!!!! I used all my hardcover books as blocks to raise my antique pottery on in the new cabinets in my kitchen. Thank you for letting me realize I'm not losing my mind.....lol!!!!
LOL, now....if only I could live with different sizes. I did figure out that the smaller ones are doubleday book club editions. Strange. I belong to Paperbackswap.com.....can get hardcovers, too..... and have been slowly collecting them with my points, so free. Takes a while, as not many people who love D. Gabaldon are willing to part with the books... but worth it. I like my paperbacks, but there's something about the hardcovers.
Has anyone seen the Starz "preview" for the pilot Outlander episode yet???? Just finished watching it. It will be available in several formats ....I think I read until the end of the year? I watched On Demand. It's the full episode and available even if you don't subscribe to Starz. Guess they figure they'll get people hooked and then they'll sign up.
The hour went by way too quickly so of course I'm dying to see another episode. I'll probably rewatch several times during the week, lol.
Me too.
I'm so hooked that I signed up for Starz months ago although I don't even (as a rule) watch T.V. Saw the preview yesterday on Facebook and will watch it again next Saturday. I think I may even get my husband hooked, but I know where the television will be tuned on Saturdays.
I'm reading MOBY right now and after watching Outlander yesterday when Claire said "Jesus H Roosevelt Christ" in the book I smiled because I always had a visual of what I thought she looked like but now seeing her in the show and now reading her say it as well I am able to visualize the "real" Claire now. Me is crazzzzy....lol
Loved the premiere-I watched it twice on my computer. I tried to watch yet again last night, but I fell asleep! I just set my DVR for next saturday's episode!
Already seen it twice? I think you are covered. Which book are you on now?
I am listening through the series this time- right now I am about mid way through Voyager. That's one of my favorites. I am really enjoying the Starz series, too!
Yep, it is addicting. I had to rush home from an anniversary party on Saturday night to see the next part of the series. Watched it twice through dinner and my friend is now captivated also and took some of my books home with her. Rushed her up to her flight home to Nevada. It truly is dominating my life.
