My mom "helped" to clear the table from lunch and put some leg and wing bones on a plate the counter right by the edge... when I had them safely right in the middle of the dining room table :/

Heard a "crunch crunch" from the other room and caught Luna in the act.. I *think* she just got one,  and I'm hoping it was actually one of those cartilage caps from a leg bone.. but who knows.

I checked her mouth for any fragments and didn't see anything.  I gave her 2 slices of bread right away and called the vet ER... they said to just keep an eye for any GI issues for 48 hours and wait it out.  I'm going to give her some more bread tonight for good measure.

:(

DH and I are very worried... one of DH's friends lost a young dog to eating a chicken bone off the street.  Keep your fingers and paws crossed for us!

*update #1*

So far so good this morning... no "evidence" has surfaced but Luna seems to be fine.  She loved the bread last night ;)

*Update #2*

Well it's been almost 2 days and Luna seems to be fine :)  Phew.  No "evidence" so either she digested the bones or it was just cartilage.

Hopefully it was a small piece and she will be fine!  Prayers for her!

Fingers crossed for Luna.

Keep us posted - hopefully whatever she did ingest will pass without any issues.  Thinking only good thoughts for her.

Hoping for the bone to pass uneventfully!    Luna....next time just ask mommy for a treat and ignore the leftovers!

I had a kitchen "helper" who left the trash (full of chicken bones) out. Of course, Cocoa dutifully ate every last one. I was worried sick, but she was fine. I've since learned that in many parts of the world people still feed their dogs cooked chicken bones (especially in developing countries where nothing is wasted). Although it can prove fatal if a sharp bone damages the intestines, most dogs survive. Maybe it's a bit like riding a bike without a helmet or driving without a seatbelt...

I'm super careful about bones now, but chances are Luna will be just fine.

Paws and fingers crossed here.

Keeping you all in thoughts and prayers.

Keeping you hand Luna in our thoughts -- paws crossed.  Hopefully it just passes.

Sorry for your scare. Hope Luna is okay

I am so sorry this happened.  I hope Luna is just fine.

Hoping for the best" outcome". One of my Goldens ate 3 full Cornish Hens one time, that he stole off the countertop. Vet told me to feed him and watch closely. Thankfully, all was fine. Hoping for the same with Luna.
I nearly lost a Maltese to a fragment of chicken bone thirty years ago. We were very lucky then that we had a great vet who operated and saved her. I do hope Luna will be ok and by now the worry will be over by the time you read this comment. What a worry!
