Oliver had major matting issues around his collar. We keep the immediate area a little shorter (not noticeably so), and switched to a rolled leather collar (not this exact one, but shows you what it looks like). Doing this has made a world of difference!
The flat nylon collars would catch his hair and make it a tangled mess until we had mats galore. Changing to the rolled leather collar eliminated those mats.
We still use a nylon harness for walks because we have yet to find a rolled leather harness large enough, but I have hope one exists out there.
You do not even know how long I've searched for a size that would fit our medium doodle. I want to cry tears of joy right now! Brushing out mats under the front legs cause by the nylon harness has been the pits! (heh heh heh)
Keeping that area a bit shorter and using the rolled leather collar works very well. I used this for Bindi. I would only add that if you have taken her to be groomed or groomed yourself, assure she is completely dry when putting the collar around her neck.
Have a nice Thursday everyone!!! Bren & Reagan
