So glad to be a part of Doodle Kisses!!! We're hoping that someone can give us some information on our chocolate baby.... when we got her (she was just shy of 3 months) she was VERY dark brown.... now she is very "latte" in some places AND she has sprouted an incredible number of silver hairs!!! Is this normal? We took her to the vet thinking there was something health-wise wrong with her... He assured us she was fine.... but we've never had a dog that changed colors like this....

Thank you :) Your Bentley is a cutie!
Thanks for all this information.... will joing the chocolate doodles group so that I can see all the beauties out there :)
I love her colors, and she is quite the character too.... so it all goes together well :)
Really it is quite common in chocolates. Charlie is a chocolate ALD and by the time he was eight months old his tail and muzzle looked a little frosted. I love the look of his coat and it is a very thick wavy fleece. The mature coat starts to come in around 10 mos to 14 mo. range (if I remember right). The puppy coat must be brushed out and brushed daily in order for it to remain mat free. t take a while for the mature coat to come in and I noticed a difference in Charlie's coat texture too. After the adult coat comes in, it was my experience that the coat upkeep was easier too. Post photos when you get a chance.
Great information THANK YOU!!! She is literally "blowing coat" right now.... she looks like she has a mohawk running down her back! Will definitely post pictures.... just trying to figure this site out!
You should see all the colour changes that my Riley has gone through. He started off dark chocolate and has silver/blond/black/red and brown hairs in his coat which makes him a gorgeous latte or sometimes cappucino colour. That's the thing with these doodles, you never quite know what you are getting! It makes it all the more exciting.
Trying to learn this site.... and how to upload pictures as well as view other beautiful pictures... Thank you so much for the information... so glad to know that this is a normal part of my doodle's life <3
One of the best things about chocolate doodles is that you get a new dog with each groom. :-} Chocolate coats have the most dramatic color changes of any color.
Thanks!! We are absolutely loving this baby girl of ours... she is so stinkin' smart and you are right... she changes with every grooming!
