Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Well, Finnegan did his best today to convince the public that doodles aren't for everyone.
I took him to an arts festival & bike race today. FInn is well behaved in crowds, the dogs were friendly and the weather gorgeous. We stopped by a long fundraising table in the middle of town and the woman behind the table asked if FInn was a doodle, etc.. She asked if he could have a treat and I patted the table (which we've done a million times in shops around town) and Finn stood up and politely put his two front feet on the table. She handed him the treat which he sniffed and (predictably) didn't take. So I thanked her and pocketed the treat. Finn politely got down and we chatted a bit more.
We started to leave and she asked if she could pet him. Since she couldn't get out from behind the table, I patted the table again and said "up" and the usually stoic Finn took things one step further. From a complete standstill, he jumped ON TOP of the table. ALL OF HIM!! Smack in the middle of the table, waving his tail and grinning!!!! I have NO idea how he even accomplished that with the height of the table and all the people standing around. We never practiced that trick! Rows of Booster buttons, signs, posters and papers went flying. My jaw dropped to the ground and then we all burst out laughing. When I could manage the word "down," FInn happily jumped down, and several kind souls helped me gather up the debris and we put the table back together. Later, I wondered how many onlookers who were saying "Honey maybe we should get a doodle" said "Ahhhhh, maybe not."
If anyone else's doodle has done something like this, I'd feel better LOL

Oh Finn....that was so awesome of you to provide the entertainment at the art festival....your Mom must have been so proud. Big Murph is a "jumper" too.....the owner of the grooming saloon still hasn't recovered from the time he jumped through the top of the Dutch door when he heard my voice.
OMD!!
LOL Way to go Murph!
Oh boy! I would have loved to catch YOU on film for that one Cheryl! Finn must have been proud of himself!
Thanks for the belly laugh. Its not often I bust out laughing out loud by reading something-but you made it happen!!!!!!!!!!!!
OMG, that is so funny, a perfect example of be careful what you ask for. :>) I'll just bet he was so proud of himself, hence the grin and wagging tail.
Oh, Finn, you can be so unpredictable on occasion. : )
Yep, my ALD jumps up onto the grooming table all the time. I just pat the top of the table and say "up" and he is up. I do the same with the back of the car. My son's shepherd used to jump up onto the dryer. My little dog (Jackapoo) used to jump onto the dining room table when we went outside without him. Luckily he has stopped that and my husband prefers to pick up the dogs to put them on the grooming table. I lift them down, but do not pick them up to put them on the table. We also have a ramp, but it has not been out since Groucho passed away. He always walked the ramp and would not jump up at all. You have to watch what you ask them to do. They just want to please you.
Love the visual!
Oh my goodness...too funny Finn...well I know it wouldn't have changed my mind...and if it did then they weren't meant to explore the world of doodles anyways...gotta love their personalities:)
