Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Well, Finnegan did his best today to convince the public that doodles aren't for everyone.
I took him to an arts festival & bike race today. FInn is well behaved in crowds, the dogs were friendly and the weather gorgeous. We stopped by a long fundraising table in the middle of town and the woman behind the table asked if FInn was a doodle, etc.. She asked if he could have a treat and I patted the table (which we've done a million times in shops around town) and Finn stood up and politely put his two front feet on the table. She handed him the treat which he sniffed and (predictably) didn't take. So I thanked her and pocketed the treat. Finn politely got down and we chatted a bit more.
We started to leave and she asked if she could pet him. Since she couldn't get out from behind the table, I patted the table again and said "up" and the usually stoic Finn took things one step further. From a complete standstill, he jumped ON TOP of the table. ALL OF HIM!! Smack in the middle of the table, waving his tail and grinning!!!! I have NO idea how he even accomplished that with the height of the table and all the people standing around. We never practiced that trick! Rows of Booster buttons, signs, posters and papers went flying. My jaw dropped to the ground and then we all burst out laughing. When I could manage the word "down," FInn happily jumped down, and several kind souls helped me gather up the debris and we put the table back together. Later, I wondered how many onlookers who were saying "Honey maybe we should get a doodle" said "Ahhhhh, maybe not."
If anyone else's doodle has done something like this, I'd feel better LOL

Yep. Riley did the same thing. Every time we go to the pet store the manager behind the counter gives the boys a treat and I do the same thing. I gesture that the boys can put their paws on the counter and she leans over and gives them a treat. One day I turned for a second and Riley was on top of the conveyor belt. He must have springs in his legs. The counter is quite high and nobody saw him actually jump! I can really visualize what Finn did. It is pretty funny but I was mortified when it happened to us LOL
Hilarious! Just when you think it's safe to go back in the water... HA
Love it! When Quincy was only a pup, I had enticed him to stay still on my backyard table for grooming by letting him lick the inside of an ice cream container. When I put him down, he , I guess, figured he was not done with the ice cream and from a standing position hopped right up onto the middle of the table to get the container! I love that Finn had an audience for his acrobatics! Times when you wish someone had a camera rolling!
Love our kangaroodles!
Finn you are a first class athlete and only following the instructions you were given. I say "well done."
Thanks everyone! FInn is glad he could make you smile. But some of your stories have me a bit worried. The DIning room table, the top of the dryer OMD!! LOL Nicky, I'm still laughing about the conveyor belt.
For those who wanted a video, sadly there is none but I'm pretty sure my face was frozen…kind of like...
ok, with a few more wrinkles and lbs added :) I'm such an "alpha" Ha!
BG thank you but not a chance I'm passing on the last part of your message ; )
LOL!
OMGosh that is hilarious! I can just vision Finn jumping up and the shock on your face. Thank goodness everyone was a good sport about it and Finn got off the table on command. Cheryl, it is such a cute story and these Doodles do surprise us at times!
LOL I love the picture! Funny boy!
LOVE THIS and I can just picture it. :-}
