Do your doodles do this? I love letting Rippley out from his crate in the mornings. He always comes out swinging his tail like it's the best morning ever on the planet, and holding a toy in his mouth. Well, this morning he realized we had no toy for him to bring downstairs. Guess we both forgot to bring one up the night before. So, he gets crafty and attempts to grab his entire 36" soft bed (Rip is only 27 lbs) and carry it downstairs himself. After all, he's gotta bring down SOMEthing for fun!! The sight of him attempting to navigate the stairs with this enormous bed blocking his view, while wagging his tail so enthusiastically, was hilarious... (Of course I assisted for safety.) DH sang, " Shake ya tail feather" to him, to top off the event. I suppose it's his new theme song. Super funny! :)

Hmm, I wonder if it is a "doodle thing"? My lucas, who just turned two last week, never, ever, ever has come out in the morning without something in his mouth! Any doodle "experts" out there have any input? Do all dood's do this or just our two? Anyway, it's an adorable story, thanks for sharing!
Yes! Yarrow always has to carry a toy downstairs first thing in the morning. If there's no toy she'll grab the bottom of my housecoat and attempt to bring me downstairs to begin the 'new, most awesome day'. I put that in quotes because that is the attitude with which she begins each morning. ...or she'll try to carry my slipper or just anything that's not nailed down. I love it. The enthusiasm is contagious.

our dood is almost 2 and he has always done this!! I just thought I was over correcting for all the licking and he trained himself to have a toy in his mouth so I wouldn't get licked! ha ha   And we also travel down the stairs with the toy and drop it by the door to go outside!  so funny!  I can only imagine the bed going down the stairs!! love it!!

It is so heartening to see their (dare I say?) gratitude - and enthusiasm - for each new day. A lovely thing. I'm adopting the new attitude myself! :)
Thanks for sharing your stories too! Glad to hear!!

That is one of my favorite things about having Ragley around! She is always excited for each new day! Rippley has grown so much and has turned into a very handsome dood!

Aww, thanks for the compliment! He's a love. And super soft. We hope he never loses his puppy coat softness! Does it grow in much different? Ragley looks like such a cute teddy bear - love your profile pic!

Some adults' coats grow in a little less soft. Ragley's grew in thicker and a little more wavy, but has maintained most of the softness! :) She is definitely a giant teddy bear- such a snuggle monster!

Glad to hear! I miss the snuggles. Rippley has recently realized (like the rest of our boys) that daddy is more fun than mommy, and mommy is just the nag (let me groom you, pull your eye goobers, etc.) Daddy is def top dog! I miss my shadow :-( but it's awfully sweet to see how much he loves DH.

My Jax always from day one comes out of his crate with his blanket or snuggle pal as he's wagging his tail and entire body......although he does drop whatever it is at the top of the stairs before he comes down.....guess its a doodle thing :)

Sawyer HAS to bring SOMETHING outside every time he goes out. We often have to wait several minutes to find something if all his toys are MIA... Lol.
How hilarious! Sounds like that attempt to bring his brd down stairs should have been on u-tube. Hurley brings a toy to anyone that comes to the house. First he greets them, the. He runs to me as if to say, 'look who is here'. After a few back and forths he grabs a toy and takes it to the guests to play.
That is soo sweet! How can your guests resist?
