We attended a huge carshow today, down on the waterfront in San Diego. We, of course, brought Enzo. As we walked around, I noticed one particular couple, seemed to be near us all the time! At one point, there were 8 different people all around Enzo, asking about her, and this couple joined in, asking questions. All the same typical questions,: what kind, name, shedding questions and age. When I gave Enz's age ( 1 yr), the man, who I swear was stalking us, said...oh, so she IS young. How much do you want for her. I sort of fluffed him off and continued talking to others. As others left...this couple were the last ...as he repeated his question : How much will you take for her"? I said something like: " I rather sell my first born child" and she was not for sale. He kept pressing! I'll give you what ever you paid, plus $100! I declined. He says...name your price ! He was really aggravating me at this point! I tell him, "SHE IS NOT FOR SALE". He says:" Everything has a price." I say "NOT my dog "and walk away. He started to come after me and his wife, who obviously had more common sense, stopped him. Really? Sure...I'll just hand her over to some fool with a checkbook!

Wow, I've had people ask how much, but only jokingly.  This guy was persistent.  I'm not sure how I would have handled that.

You have to be joking. That is ridiculous!

I had a similar conversation with three different people when Lily was a pup. I was actually scared that someone might try to steal her! People are ridiculous!
I did have a guy and his teenage daughter approach me in Hone a depot one time. We had just gotten Enzo and I was carrying her. The teenage daughter approached me first, asking to pet her, and then left. Came back with her Dad and he offered to buy her from us. But he wasn't anywhere as persistent. Took my absolute NO and left.
Scary! I worry Luca would go with a stranger but Calla is not so willing. Sometimes I wish I did have an attack command.
We were saying the same thing, F. I think Enz would go very willingly, UNTIL I was out of sight, and then she'd come running back. Just don't want to test the theory!

Enzo is one fabulous doodle that many of us would like to have, but to be that persistent?  Wow!  What a weirdo!  Keep your doors locked!  I wouldn't put it past him to have followed you home so he could steal her. Perhaps Enzo sends off a signal - "Buy ME, Buy ME! I am the best doodle deal out there!"

This is one reason I've heard why you shouldn't put your address on your dog's ID tag.  People well get the address while petting and then steel!

Wow, something I've never even considered!!!!    This story, sadly, seems so indicative of the time we live in, where some people place no value on life or love.   It's all about their need for instant gratification.

But it is important to inclued your area code with the phone number!  I rescued a dog once who was on vacation.  Great number to call but what town?  Not where we were!  :-}

I've also been told not to put your dog's name on the tags...It makes it harder on the person abducting the animal if they do not know their name.

Wow, that's really strange!
